I'm ditching the Vibe! Er, no. No i'm not.Anyway, almost everyone in the roadshop where I work is getting a second car, one guy just got an S2000 to complement his Civic, an Eagle Talon to complement his Accord, a Mitsu Galant (AWD Turbo) to complement an Accord, and a '91 240 SX to complement a 260Z.So, I had mentioned to the guy buying the 240sx that if someone had an extra car to give away, I'd want it, so I could join the "two car club". He turned to me and said he had a '72 240Z that he'd sell me for $500. I was like.. "No way!"So I went to see it yesterday. It does need work.. but, as a project car, it'd be pretty sweet. The interior is in excellent condition (irregardless of the bad paint), and the wiring and engine are good. Has the original inline six in it, though he says it shouldn't be hard to fit a V8 if I wanted.So, once I can scrape up the money, it'll be mine! Mwahaha!Sorry. You're lucky. I've wanted an old Z/datsun for so long. That is like one of my dream cars.I think I'm just going to buy a crotch rocket when I turn 18. My mom is going to kick me out, but my dad said I could live with him, and he's gettin a Harley so him and I will ride togather. Absolutely! My fiancee has a washer an dryer that was left to her by her grandparents. Since we'll be in an apartment with no laundry hookups, we're probably gonna sell those to get the money for the Z. It all comes down to how much money we can get when. It's pretty much mine already!Updates are no problem, either!

In all seriouness if you don't buy that car, let me know I've got a friend who would be toatally intersted, actually if everman reads this, this is the perfect car for him. Since his Datsun 300z died he's been wanting another Z car to add to his collection of rusting history..

Tell him to go get it. I want it, but I'm not likely to buy another car anytime soon.

when I lived in Nawlins I had a 280z which I loved, then I bought a Yellow 240z afterwards and It was my favorite all time car.I wish I still had it.Just don't do the V-8 swap there to cool, the way there are with that inline six.

Wow! That's a great looking Z! Most early Z-cars are rusted-through hulks by now!My 'toy car' is an '84 VW Rabbit Convertible.

Those old 240z are nice cars. They go like hell if they are running right. That in line six is a good motor. I think that restored ones go for around 4k. I had a Little Hustler pick up with a L18 SSS dual carb motor in it. Same carbs that the 240 s have in them. Imagine going over 100 mph. in a Datsun pu.

I think a 350 would be neat to replace the L28 in the 280. Very unexpected, and unique.

Yeah, I think i'm gonna go with the inline 6.Really the big issues with it, are the floorboards rusted out, but i'm gonna fix that with some stainless steel, poprivets, and silicone. The framerail under the battery rusted out from the battery leaking all over it, but that's gonna be repaired before I even pick up the car..Everything else is in working condition, nothin' a bodyshop and a paintjob can't fix!

Those are pretty cool cars, I've always liked them. That inline 6 is a very durable motor. I'd be afraid of drastically changing the handling and driving characteristics from swapping to the 350 V8. A properly built inline 6 from those vintage Z cars with a turbo would probably give you more than the 350 would. And the car would still handle correctly.A kid I used to work with was into them. He had 2 of them (they were actually his dad's). They did some restoration on them and the one that I saw that he drove was a really nice older car. I got to drive it once and I'll tell you, I was very surprised at what it could do.

Cool, Stang! Yeah, the more I think about it, the more I wanna keep the inline 6 and maybe turbo it.. that's way down the line though..
