question about trading in the vibe...

I have an 04 salsa vibe with the powerpackage and with 15,000 miles on it. It is two tone with the lite gray interior. Bought it in August of 2003. I really wanted the blue neptune color, monotone, with the darker gray interior. I had been researching a new car for about two years and continuously drooling over the vibe, counting the days till I could buy one. My wife and I were saving and saving money for this day. My hopes and dreams came true when my wife finally agreed to buy one. The thing is, we had a bit of trouble finding exactly what I wanted, and so the first vibe we found with manual, no moon and toons (head doesn't fit in cars with opening roofs), and power package, we took without regard to the interior and exterior color. My wife tends to be impatient with things.I have been thinking about how to get a neptune, and since the 2005 vibes will be in Rhode Island any day now, I figure this is my last chance to get one new with the 2004 front end. Has anyone bought a vibe recently, as in the last month? What did you pay for it? What discounts and incentives did you get? Does anyone feel that me taking a slight loss on depreciation will be worth it to get the car I wanted initially? This is assuming I can even find one, again the issue. I figure that this is the end of the month so prices will be lower. The new model year w/ the new body style is almost out, so prices will be lower. My car is an 04, so resale should be better than an 03, until the 05s come out. I am talking to the nearby dealer in a couple of hours to see what he found for me...

For reference, I got my Vibe on April 29. MSRP of $22500. My deal worked out to $18,000 + TTT. My dealer even traded with another dealer in south VA for my color choice and included the cargo mat and cargo nets that the trade vehicle had at no extra charge for the transportation or the extra goodies.Hope this helps!

I had to special order mine and picked it up a month ago today. Paid 100.00 over invoice and got 4k off. 1k GM card, 2k instead of financing, and the 1k conquest rebate. My price out the door was like 15,100 (we have 6.5% sales tax here). You may be able to go under invoice at this point. KBB.com is a good place to find out invoice price but only the dealer can tell you whats really around. The Pontiac site blows for telling you what is in your area. Pontiac didnt find any 5 speeds around me but the dealer did. I opted to order one since I didnt want a dealer transfer fee or a car that had been driven at allHopes that helpsBob

I bought mine 2 and a half weeks ago. There is a 2000 rebate with an additional 1000 if you trade in another brand of car. I got mine (monotone, moon and tunes, alloy wheels, auto, power package) for about 15500 and was 4 grand upside down on my trade....so I ended up financing about 19000 after a down payment.(not bad considering sticker was jsut under 21000) The rebates end at the end of the month....so better hurry.......

Actually, the Conquest rebate is just for owning another brand of car, you dont necessarily need to trade it in. I just showed him the registration from the wife Expedtion and badda bing, another 1k off. What they didnt know was the tags that I transferred onto the Vibe were from my Gran Prix. heheheBob

Well I talked to the dealer today. They were really nice too, first time I have ever had an experience like that. They did a computer search for the stock in the general area of New England and found 7 neptune vibes that had a manual tranny. Of those, three did not have the power package, which I really want, and the other four had the moon and tunes, which I want but can't get because I am a bit too tall to sit in a vehicle with a moving roof. Even so, the dealer was willing to give me 12,500 for my vibe. After all was said and done, if I opted for the one with a moon and tunes, I would be in the hole. I would have considered it for 2,000. Maybe it was wishfull thinking. Hey, If I am will to spend 2,000 on the car, then I guess I am will to finally spend some money on parts for the car. So, I win anyway. Plus I would have to convince my wife to get the blue... (like that would fly). With parts under the hood, my wife won't know about them. Excellent *mr. burns impression*

I probably sit as high if not higher than you do. Yes, I can fit into a vibe with moon and tunes, but it is a tight squeeze. If I have a bad hair day, forget it. I like to not worry about that annoying feeling of my hair rubbing aginst the roof. It distracts me from my driving.

Hmmm, I'm about 5'11" and have the M/T package. I feel like there is almost a full foot above my head while I'm driving. >There are probably some really good deals going on this weekend for Memorial Day. This is traditionally a very good time to try and strike a deal on a new car.
