Yeah, "French Cuffs" they were called. I remember that from my Jr. High School years. Anyone who didn't cuff the legs on their jeans was just sooooo uncool.

Ahh, yes, the 80's. I jokingly tell people that my idea of heaven would be to perpetually be a late high school student in the 80's. Big hair, guitar rock, and President Reagan forever! God---are you listening???

I got to go to elementary school during the days of bart simpson T-shirts (before they were banned), snap bracelets (i loved those!), parachute pants and wearing your jeans around your knees...that carried into high school, when it also became cool to wear the UFO pants (the ones that are absurdly big and swishy with the stringy things hanging out of them), as well as the whole "goth-like" phenomenon...And who can forget the days when the cool kids wore their backpacks across their chest!Ahhhh...how I long for the days past...NOT...lol...Oh, but I do remember when I was in early elementary school, my friend and I used to take an empty bottle of bubbles, mix tiny bits of every chemical in the garage (typically bug sprays, poisons, etc), mix them together, and then run around and see how long it took our "poison" to kill bugs.

Thankfully with the mix of Iowa being about three years behind the rest of the world, and me being in elementary school during the 80's, it was out of style before I really got started with that crap. Even the music (thank God). My older sister made me "tight roll" my jeans when I had no idea why. But me being the young impreshionable person that I was, I listened to her and did it. Even though I thought it looked a little gay. I bring that up every once in a while when I want to make her feel bad about ruining my self esteem.

LOL! I did the same thing! But not in an empty bubble bottle. And later a friend and I both got chemistry sets one year. We were at his house one night playing mad scientist and mixed a bunch of stuff together in a test tube and capped it with one of the little rubber caps. It got warm and started foaming up real bad so we hurried up and stood the tube up in the laundry tub because we didn't know what else to do with it. A minute or two later it exploded! The rubber cap shot across the room at lightning speed and the tube broke. Whatever the mixture was smelled really bad too. His mom wasn't real happy about it, I remember that!

My brother and I used to do similar bug-killing expiditions, except we didn't use chemicals, we'd use those slow-burning fireworks lighters and burn them. >_> Oh, and anyone remember pump sneakers?

My roommate at college would catch flies, carefully pull off their wings and make them "walks". I was sitting there watching tv one night and saw this "walk" walk by and I almost lost it laughing.

back in 1971 I was 3!I went out in the garage and spray painted grey Spots on my fathers yellow 1967 RS Camero!I was trying to make it look more like a race car. That is the only real beating, I ever remeber getting. The car sat in the garage until about 1980 until he sold it.he told me a few years ago, That he was so embarrased he never drove it or raced it again.

I remember pulling off the wings of flies and chasing them with pencils/straws While I never spray painted my father's car, I did climb inside my grandfather's tractor cab and spray down the entire inside of it with his fire extinguisher. I didn't know WHY he got so mad, I thought it'd be cool to have a Christmas-looking tractor

I wore jeans and engineer boots with chains on them. I carried a roach clip on a chain on my belt but had to lose it for school. In the summer we used to jump off a small bridge(20') for beers from passing rafts. I jumped off the Old Fair Oaks bridge once- about 50'. Crazy kid. My son is so good compared to how I was.

OK... remember "Acid Wash Jeans"When I was in Jr High, one morning I decided that I wanted to go to school with the Acid Wash jeans look so about an hour or so before I went to school I poured clorox bleach all over my jeans, I let it air dry and wore it to school with out washing it. I walked to school so I didn't really notice a problem until I sat in class. I had the whole class room choking in FUMES.... What was I thinking?? Good grief, I thankfully had a pair of sweatpants I kept in my gym locker to wear.
