Your lucky. Here in Quebec, it is almost impossible to get a personalized licesce plate. We have to take the one they give us.

I got a special California plate with a US flag on it. I got the random sequence, it happens to be 2450MA (Matthew 24:50)

Yup thats what I paid when I bought mine... well actually it was a bit more because I had to pay a "convenience fee" when I ordered it though the Service Ontario Kiosk. I am going this Friday to get my old plates off the Vibe and the new personalized ones, on. While we're on the subject... how do you take the plates off? I mean, what kind of tool do I need?

I also wanted Personalized plates, but would be looking at around $100 per year here. Regular plates alone (including taxes) runs me about $50 per year.I was lucky though, 2003 is Ohio's Bicentennial year so we got cool plates just for 2003.Patriotic and different..

Sweeeet! That'll look nice on your white Vibe. You have to pay a hundred bucks PER YEAR for personalized plates! That's outrageous. Not too many vanity plates in Ohio I assume?

quote:Sweeeet! That'll look nice on your white Vibe.It doesn't look that bad, I agree. The non-Bicentennial design is a light brownish color, so I am glad I got this design.quote:You have to pay a hundred bucks PER YEAR for personalized plates! That's outrageous. Not too many vanity plates in Ohio I assume?Yup.. with the taxes I pay in my county, it averages to $100 per year. If it was a one-time charge, I would have them by now.I used to work for the Ohio BMV (Bureau of Motor Vehicles) for 2 years and would rarely see Personalized plates from Ohio just due to the annual costs.

I got Fire/Rescue plates. You only get 6 spaces 'cause of the reflective emblem. The red looks pretty sharp (I think) with the red Pontiac emblem. These cost $70 a year to get and you need authorization from the Fire Chief. Mine is due in December and I'm thinking of changing it to LTSROL (Let's Roll), after the 9/11 hero's on the Penn. flight.

It really doesn't bother me at all. In fact I can hardly read the one on the back its so dirty, but the one on the front is so clean and shiny.

I dont like the idea, either. Lucky, in PA, we dont need one in the front. I thought about getting a personalized plate for the Vibe. My GA one is from an Anime.

I finally received my Ontario vanity plates today after a 2 month plus wait (and indeed $212 fee). Watch for OUR VIBE on Ontario's highways and byways.. Will try and post a new avatar but right now the only clean thing about the whole car is its new plates (under plastic cover).

I expected to need a large slotted screwdriver but much to my surprise found that my plates were affixed with a bolt head and thus I used a set of visegrip pliers and a small adjustable wrench. So what is your new plate??!!

Two plates for the price of one!

The way I see it we get two plates for one high outrageous price! At least it's in Canadian dollars.

On my Hyundai Accent I have TQILA13 (tequila 13)-when I was a drinker, I was a big Jose Cuervo fanI haven't come up with anything I really really like for the Vibe...so far all I got is SIKSPD1...double meaning, 6 speed (it's a GT) and Sick Speed, like it's so fast it's sick.....my boyfriend came up with that one. Or SIXPD13. Dunno.I want something clever...so when people figure it out they're like "oh yea!!"....it's so hard!

Everybody told me that but I never got pulled over once...and it's been drivin late at night/early morning, leaving bars, speeding down the highway....so I guess I'm either lucky or a great driver-a little of both I think.I have a "University of Margaritaville" banner across the back and some dancing parrots on the back window....it fit into my theme. Maybe i should just get CACATHY and be done with the whole thing...oy

Every year right after I have a birthday I think about getting new vanity plates. I've got a birthday coming in July, and it'll be my forty sixth. So this year the plates would be 4D6. This works all through the forties, sixties, seventies, eighties, and 90s, but other decades don't work. You can't read fifty as 5D, for example. And I've suggested this idea before to many people. For some reason the guys don't mind the idea, but the girls don't seem to like to advertise their age so obviously. If you've got a special classic car from a certain year, you can also use that year for the plate. It'll just have to be from the 40s, 60s, 70s, 80s, or 90s. I guess that means a 2003 isn't gonna ever be a 3-letter classic vanity plate candidate. KSNeptune

In Illinois, your personalized license can't start with a number. It has to start with a letter....and your numbers can't be "0"-zero....I'm pissed I can't do "03" on the end of my plate. Stupid State.

my plates say "RIZRKT" or rice rocket. i've also had "2NDEBT" on my tundra (too in debt) and then on my grand am and cougar, "IGOBYU". they are only $30 for personalized plates in Alaska. One time fee. it gives the prisoners something to do, lol

Not a personalized plate, but a special interest.I LOVE the Mutts comics. And the artist is a Jersey resident. Of course, now the big joke at work is that I hit and killed a deer with my Animal Friendly plates. But, as an aside, it's only a $50 one-time fee for personalization.Only rule is you must have at least 3 letters, and a maximum of 7 characters, in any combination of letters or numbers.

Gah! For $30 I'd get another one on my next car that said SPUTNIK2. For over $200 though this will be my only personalized plate I ever get.

When you get a new car you can trasnfer the plates to the new car right? So you can maintain the Sputnik legacy?

Yeah but I have the ones I have because of the colour of the car (Satellite - sputnik) If I get a red car next then it doesn't fit. I kept my standard issue plates though so I can use the if I want... although I like the personalized ones. What can I say? I'm vain. Hence Vanity Plates.

You don't need to return plates that aren't assigned to a car? Here, if you get rid of a car and don't transfer the plates you have to surrender them to the state.

Nope you own the plates here. She asked me if I wanted to give them back and save myself $50 - I had to pay $50 for the new expiration sticker. If I had given back my old ones then they wouldn't charge me for the sticker.

My birthday was 3/11 so i went ahead and got a set of personalized plates. VIBE 4 FN . They cost me $99. for the first year then they will be $35. over the cost of regular plates every year after that. At the BMV here in Ohio they have a computer hook-up so you can sit there and see what is available. Some of the really good ones were taken: SHDOVIB, COOLVIB, HOTVIBE. you are limited to seven characters in ohio. a full space counts as a character.

Here there is a $25 fee just to apply for it, and (if I remember right) $25 added to our registration every year. We only have 6 digits, and plates are required by law on front and back.
