Columbus, OH Newspaper 5/15/04: Ad is confusing.Headline: "$3,700 OFF '04 PONTIAC VIBES" Next line: "Vibe Conquest - if you have a non-GM Vehicle get ANOTHER $1,000 off, Yes that's a total of $4,000 off." Example: "VIBE MSRP $20,635; discount and rebate $3,700, you pay $16,935." That no doubt would be $15,935 with the conquest rebate. Last week's ad was a total of $4000 off a base MSRP $17,165 consisting of $1,000 discount, $2,000 reg rebate and $1,000 conquest rebate. Would expect a $1,200 discount on a MSRP of $20,635.

I'd expect the rebates to increase...The 05's will be hitting the showrooms soon...

As I understand it from my dealer (take it for what you think it is worth), each dealer gets so many conquest coupons. It is at their discretion when and who gets them. It was not until I seemed truly interested in a Vibe, and we got to seriously discussing the bottom line, that the dealer mentioned the conquest coupon.To qualify, one of the registered owner(s) must have a current registration for any other than GM-branded vehicle.It probably helped that I was buying on the 29th of the month and the salesperson mentioned that he was really needing a sale of any kind.BTW, I did have a PIN for a GM supplier discount, but the dealer said that I could not qualify for the conquest $ and use the GM supplier discount because the conquest $ was not a advertised thing. (Not sure if that is really true, but I was happy with the final price that I got my new Vibe for.

My recollection is that the regular 2003 rebates never exceeded $2,000.

I got the 1K conquest, and choose the 0% instead of the 2K. I paid about 15-16K total. Then again, it's hard to tell cause I had to take a 4K lost in my trade cause the rates were 8%.
