Hard decision

I've decided to leave GenVibe as a moderator.I will continiue to come here from time to time, but not as often as I used to do in the past.I do not have as much time to spend on this site as before.I don't know if it is only me, but GenVibe does not seems to be what it was when I joined it, 2 years ago. May be it is because I have less interest, but I'm not as enthusiast as I was before. There's more an more "internal wars" here and some people juste seems no enough open minded for my teaste. I hate when people come posting to blash others.Anyways, that's life, things changes, not always for the beast, but all depend of each. Some would prefer the GenVibe of today, some other prefer the one of before....

I agree completely that it isn't the same as when I joined over a year and a half ago. It is difficult to get into board sometimes when you see posts that make you want to rip your hair out. I greatly prefer what it used to be.

This is bad news for us When I found this site, you were one of the friendly supportive helpful people that made me sign up and feel welcome. You have contributed so much to the site. Can we not convince you to stay and help make this the kind of place that you want it to be?

yes, it's become more and more un-fun (is that a word?). perhaps we should try and leave political or religious issues out of the forums. i think w/ this being an election year and all that's going on w/ iraq and afganistan, we should try and steer clear of any politics to keep heated debates down. i see that most of those "touchy" threads have already been deleted.

It is becoming more and more like other forum. People are giving wrong information about the Vibe, pretend to be expert on subjects, and bash other people's opinions.you are very correct, salsa. and i think we have all been guilty of it.

It is a shame. I remember you could take almost every word here as gospel, now it's tough to decipher what is BS and what isn't.

That's why we need Ben to stay and help us.When wrong info is posted, it needs to be challenged. Data integrity is a group responsibility around here. it takes knowlegeable people like Sub-Vibe-R to help us keep things on track. When we get sidetracked into petty battles about off topic opinions, or when technical threads degenerate into ego wars, then the experts get fed up and leave.Let's find a way to not let that happen.

There's alway a small % of people who give BS. At the beggin, they are very few, but they are growing up and they still the minority, but they are the more visible people....I've learn a lot from people here, but I thing now we have made the turn of all the questions and it seems like we are only staying in place and not really going further right now.

I agree 100% as well, maybe things will pick up a bit when the new body style comes out and new features are added or old ones are changed. But for now, it is slow. I don't blame you at all Sub, but I for one appreciate all the help of the mods and the people who knowlegeable in their respective topics. As you read it gets easier to pick out the people to listen to and who to ignore.

Sorry to see you go - stick around and peek in if you can!For what it's worth, the forum has grown to near 2000 members over the past 2 years. When the forum was running with a mere few hundred, those members were thirsty for news and information on the Vibe as it was very new to everyone. Now that most of that information is out there and here on GenVibe, there is not much new content to cover other than rallies and other events. The lack of overall aftermarket support and changes or whatnot to the Vibe do not help in the stale content that goes around, especially for the veteran Vibe owners. I myself find discussions here to be dry and repetitive at times amid the occasional flare-ups - I still believe for the most part we are welcoming to new members and cooperative if questions are duplicates. With almost 2000 members, that also brings that many more different opinions and attitudes on the site.As far as inaccurate information, I would hope other members would continue to post to politely correct members that may be giving wrong information rather than flaming or ignoring it for someone else to respond to. Honestly, I don't see much of that (ignorance or flaming - compared to other forums) going on as someone is usually there to pipe in with accurate information.Overall, all members here should keep their cool (as most do), don't take every word here seriously, and relax and try to have fun. If you're here and bored, do a little searching and dig up some old postings that may not have been resolved or are in need of updating. That alone will help stir up some interesting converstaions.

We'll miss you Ben! Hope you decide to stick around. I was close to leaving last year but Nick and AdminII convinced me to stay. But I understand how you feel.

I agree that GenVibe is not what it used to be. My biggest complaint is how so many people seem to feel they need to reply to every post, whether or not they offer any significant value/help. It seems people only post to get their counts high.I've read numerous posts that have nothing to do with the topic. It gets aggrevating reading through 25 posts because people reply 3-4 times each with just unnecessary information or start side convo's stealin the purpose of the original thread.Sorry to see you go, but I totally understand your situation. I'm nearing it myself if I didn't get bored at work periodically.

I find it sad that the people who are trading their Vibe's in on other types of cars, feel that it is necessary to log in and start a whole topic on how great their car is and how much better it is than the Vibe. I find the whole thing to be rather disheartening. I love my Vibe and am sad they didn't love theirs.I also find myself feeling irritated when people bash others for their opinons. It makes me mad to see that people have to state that this is their opinion and please don't bash them. Why bash, what does that gain anyone? All it does is stop people from wanting to contribute and stops others from joining.Sorry to see you leave, Ben. Do stop by when you can, I know you will be missed.

I think they probably still like the Vibe, but most people like to switch up their vehicles from time to time (except my mom who's on her third Grand Am!).
