"THE VIBE WAVE"

Being a Vibe owner for only three weeks, I finally saw a fellow Vibe owner for the first time on the street just yesterday!!! After making eye contact with the guy, we both gave a wave to each other, and I have coined it as "The Vibe Wave" (Using the famous "Jeep Wave" for the idea!) Hopefully I have started something in my area, and maybe you guys can start in your neighborhoods!!! Just thought I would share this idea with you!!

Last night as I was driving into the Loblaws on Vanier Parkway, I noticed an Abyss two tone backing out of a parking space. Because of the way I was positioned, I had to wait for him to finish backing out and come out of the lot. As he's going past me he gives me a big smile and a thumbs up! I wonder if he was a fellow genviber? Anyway it was cool... first time I've had another Vibe owner acknowledge my Vibe on the road.

http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=315 We chatted about this a long time ago. Interesting enough, I haven't seen a Vibe since!

The only other Vibe's that I have seen on the road have been driven by older people. None of them even looked over to check mine out. I'm sure when I see another Vibe with someone who at least looks, regardless of age, we will a wave and a smile to throw at each other.

I got a thumbs up from a matrix driver on saturday...

So, do you wave at Matrix owners too? Corvette guys wave at each other all the time, so I'd be happy to wave at a fellow Vibe/Matrix owner when I see one. Passed an old lady in a Matrix yesterday, but didn't waste my time waving as I'm sure she'd be clueless.

Salsa I'll wave at you when I see you! Just be sure you're in your vibe!

I received a Vibe Wave this week for the first time here in Pennsylvania and waved back to the female driver of a Satellite Vibe.A few days earlier I pulled in next to a Matrix in our church parking lot. When the driver was getting into her vehicle I said, "Nice car", but didn't get any response. Maybe my Vibe was unrecognizable with all this road salt.

Isn't it funny how a simple little wave can make you smile? Maybe we are the start of a nicer generation!

all the owners here are usually really old and dont care or they are rushed, tired, bitter business women who probably dont know what kind of car they are actually driving....."uh...why is that guy waving to me?"

Here's an idea, when you see another Vibe, send the "vibe wave" by turning off your headlights!

I always look over to other Vibe/Matrix drivers and nod. 99% of them don't even notice my Vibe. That's normal for around here where most drivers are clueless to what is around them. All they see is the car directly in front of them and nothing else (if even that).I will say however, that there are 2 black Matrix' I see almost every day and they have noticed my Vibe. One on the way to work that has a "TRD" emblem on the hatch where the "XR" or "XRS" emblem should be (I'm not sure which it is yet because the emblem was removed). The other is an XRS that I think has an auto trans. It has an FOP badge on the plate and "performance" decals on the rear quarter windows (TRD, Injen and 2 others I think). The guy looks like a cop so I didn't try and race him (plus he probably would beat me since it's an XRS).

I sometimes hold the peace sign (V for Vibe), I get a 50/50 respond. Those that respond, smile and do the same, those who don't either ignore it or look at me funny.

I've actually waved to another Shadow Vibe driving down the road, and the lady (looked in her 50s) had a great big smile on her face and waved back :D!!!!!On the way up to Michigan a few Vibes on the interstage going the opposite way waved at our caravan, and every now and then I'll see another Vibe in town and get a smile or something. I'm gonna be driving a LOT in these next few days (gotta put on 500 miles to break in my tires) so hopefully I'll get a few more waves outta everything :D

Good one!I'd think about doing this, but my lights go on automatically with the silly headlight sensor -- day or night, rain or shine, virtually every time I drive -- and they don't go off until I turn the car off. What a great "feature"!

SFISM!..... (removed)!!!!!!!!!!! I almost never see another Vibe to wave to, but it seems like they don't wave back when I do. There's a 03 Vibe on ebay with VIN up in the 60 thousands, and with only 1131 genvibe members so far, I guess there are more owners than enthusiasts. Oh well, wave when you can anyway.Sometimes my attempts at humor don't go over so well. Once had a neighbor who was into tropical birds, had a dozen, including a mackaw that you could hear a couple of houses away in the winter with all the windows shut. We were talking in the front yard and she started griping about how much bird food cost, and was going on and on about it so I picked up our cat and started petting it. I told her that I didn't think bird food wasthat expensive, and I usually buy a big bag and spread it out in the backyard, because it's cheaper than cat food. She never came back.

Joatman you crack me up. GT 03 I feel the same way, i just stare at them wondering "hello I also got a vibe" down here thats rare considering the 90% of the cars on the road are damn Hondas or SUV's. It wierd I see a Vibe everyday for about a week, and then none for the rest of the month. But I tell you one thing its awsome when i go to the dealer and people looking to buy a Vibe ask me how mine is going so far, and with a smile I respond "great car, you can tell it doesnt have a GM engine" They look at me with the strangest face guess they dont know that its a Toyota engine.

quote:Isn't it funny how a simple little wave can make you smile? Yeah, it's funny how just a silly little gesture like that can make your day, weird huh? It feels good to "connect" with someone and signify that you understand you both have something in common, even if it's only for that brief few seconds that you both pass each other on the road. I know the feeling well and have been doing the "motorcycle wave" for years now. It's the same wave as the Vibe or Jeep waves but it's been going on since motorfcycles first took to the roads here in America. It started because the road system was a joke way back then and you were lucky to make it safely to your destination in a car with 4-wheels never mind on a a motorcycle with only 2 wheels. Huge potholes, unpaved roads, gravel, loose dirt all made long distance travel a risk "only for the brave or foolhardy". It was considered "an ordeal" to take off on a long trip and you were lucky to reach your destination without any problems or accidents. Motorcycle riders started the wave as both a type of greeting and as a mutual sign of respect for the other brave rider who dared venture out on the open road. Next time you are following behind a motorcycle on the road just watch when another motorcycle passes by, you'll see the same "Vibe/Jeep" wave and smile.

In the last week I have been seeing a lot more Vibes than I used to and I'm finally starting to see some that are not driven by old women. One of the other few Vibes I saw this morning on M59 (it was a salsa vibe with a Michigan plate and a New York Yankees liscense plate frame) looked like it had something hanging a little too low under the front end. I have no idea what it was, but you could see something hanging underneath from behind and in front of him. I have not noticed anything like that on any other Vibes, so I got a little concerned. Consider that motivation to leave the genvibe.com flyers...If this guy had one, he might be here and read my post and figure out what's wrong on his undercarriage. Then we'd really all be helping eachother.

It has aftermarket chrome wheels and TRD emblems on the front doors as well. I did find out that it's an XR because it had rear drum brakes.

Other than those, I don't know of any fraternity of drivers that regularly share waves. It was fun though, when I had a Corvette and when I had a motorcycle! (Never been a school bust driver.)

Passed a Salsa vibe on I-70 eastbound somewhere between Columbus and Wheeling today, the driver didn't seem to notice but I kept waving and then she realized I was in a Vibe also. Beautiful big smile, glad I waved.1400 miles in 2 days, only saw one other Vibe, but it was headed the other way on the interstate.

AOTOTBAs I was getting off the highway I was passed by a nice looking Salsa montone Vibe, I gave her a . . . _ (morse code for "V") on my little roadrunner horn, she flipped me the bird back, so I guess using the horn as a way to say "hi" to other vibers is maybe not such a good idea

I wave all the time. I had the first vibe on my street in 2004, it was fusion orange. Now there are 4 Vibes on my street, including my new red 2009 there are two silver vibes and a white vibe. My street is only 1 block long and has about 30 houses on it. LOL.
