I've been searching for an Exhaust set up for my Vibe. I would like a full cat back system. There are many options can anybody help shead light on some of them?I've read the post an have heard you have to cut your factory exhaust for the Magnaflow, does anybody know what other types of modification these other exhaust require.http://www.thermalrd.com/pontiac.htmhtt ... ro...c.htm

unfortunaly the bassani exhaust is only availible for the vibe GT. As I read it thus far, correct me if Im wrong.

the bassani exhaust says its for the pontiac base and XR i imagine thats the 5 speed. as pontiac does not make an XR that would be toyota's trix

I think we might be getting alittle of my intent. What I would really like to know is what is required to intall each of the aformetioned exhuasts. I appoliges for my earlier statment about the bassani exhaust, I had it confused with the one from borla.

Base means non-AWD and non-GT. Tranny is not relevant. XR does mean the Toyota equivalent of the base Vibe. There are 4 grades of Matrix: Matrix, Matrix XR, Matrix XRS, and 4WD Matrix. The Matrix and Matrix XR are identical except for some convenience featuers (the 120V outlet, appeareance enhancements, etc.) The base/AWD Vibes, as well as the Matrix/XR/4WD all use the same engine. BUT, the exhaust installs would differ because the AWD/4WD has a more complex pipe routing because of the drive shaft.Make sense?

Well I have been preaching about the Magnaflow a lot lately. I have a base vibe and was able to get mine for 280 shipped to the door. The install took about 2 hrs, and yes you do have to cut (at least you do on the base) The sys. and the stock pipes do not section off in the same place. Other than that, it wouldn't be that hard. If you want magnaflow, deff. check out the post in the for sale section about Magnaflow from Performance Peddler. They give great deals.

For GT owners if you welling to dish out a bit more money you can get a GReddy Evo II for the Matrix XRS. I love mine You can get it through http://www.hopupracing.com for $389 (plus around $50 shipping) which is an extremely good deal. Buying it through GReddy is around $526.

Just like Borla's, GReddy's is only an axle-back, yet they both advertise it to be a cat-back, which is false advertisement IMHO. Is the TRD exhaust fully compatible with the Vibe? I just installed this today and it took me less than hour. A little trick and some tools to speed things up if your doing the install yourself.Tools: Large and medium adjustable pliers. Use the large to push the isolators back on to the new hangers and the medium to remove them from the original system. : Sawsall with short metal cutting blades. You need to make one cut in front of the front most weld of the resonator. I cut through it in less than a minute with a new blade. : Impact wrench with an extention and 15mm socket. To remove the factory exhaust coupler and remove the rear pipe and muffler assembly. : Penatrating oil. Spray the isolators with some WD 40 or some type of penatraiting oil. This will help in removing them from the stock system and reinstalling on the new one.Other tools needed: 1/2 drive ratchet: 15mm and 12mm sockets: rat tail file( you'll need to debur the edges of the pipe after cutting the resinator off.): flat blade screw driver ( use this to hold the compression clamp of the magnaflow system in position while you tighten the bolts on it.) : floor jack: and jack stands.The system was simple, the most complete out of all others, cost less than the rest on the market, and sounds awesome. Low deep tone, no resonating backfire like most systems, no louder than stock while cruising at highway speed. and noticable punch on the top end. ILOVE IT!!!!!!

I didn't use any of the above, I took it to a reputable muffler shop and hadf them build me a custom full cat-back exhaust and added a weld-on Typhoon muffler. I'm pleased by both the performance and the sound.To install it they had to cut off the old exhaust, and weld on the new one. It required mandrel bending to follow the exhaust route.

Sorry I forgot to mention that for my Evo II I had to steal the actual cat piping from the Celica GTS version of the Evo II and have custom piping to work around the front axle since 70 mm pipping apparently doesn't fit all that well. The gains were much better than the magnaflow (since the magnaflow uses essentially the stock piping diameter which is 60 mm I believe as opposed to 70mm which GReddy uses) in addition to a better sound and appearance in my opinion, but opinions are just that so you gotta decide for yourself.As for the false advertising I wouldn't exactly call it that since they say that it is the rear section everywhere it is sold. And yeah here is a pic of the exhaust but my car isn't all that clean lol guess I should wash it soon
