Vibe to Vue

A few years ago when I was shopping for a new vehicle, I was looking at the Vibe, Saturn Vue, and the Ford Escape. I chose the Vibe because of it's price, quite a bit of room inside, and good fuel mileage. At the time, the Vue was a couple of grand more than the Vibe after you added the necessary stuff, and I wasn't that thrilled with the Escape, so I chose the Vibe. The Vibe has been fun, but it's time for something different. The incentives were too hard to pass up on the Vue, and I drove a new one home last week. It's just the 4cyl, (2.2L ecotec) 5-speed manual, front wheel drive, power package. The Vibe has alot of room in it, but the Vue does have a bit more.

Did you get a fair deal on the vibe trade in? I hope you left some genvibe stuff in the glove box for the new owner.whats the mileage estimates for a Vue?

I had hotchkis sway bars & springs, Injen CAI, trailer hitch, a DVD/MP3/TV tuner, LCD monitor, and a Panasonic stereo in/on it that I wouldn't have received any value for if I traded it, so I removed EVERYTHING and put it back to stock, with exception of a set of aftermarket wheels and new tires. I put it in our local newpaper last night, so hopefully it won't take too long to sell, but you never know. The EPA estimates are 24/29. First tank full I got 24.9. After broken in, guys on the Saturn forums are getting around 27-29. The 250 hp V6 option doesn't get much worse mileage, but it is close to $5K more. The V6 would be fun though. The 4cyl ecotec is rated at 140 hp, 153 tq. It's not quite as quick as the Vibe because it's about 500lbs more, but in everyday driving, it seems to have better low end tq.

Nope, just a tan cloth. I already have some seat covers to keep them looking decent. Only options were carpeted floor mats, and a "sports plus package" which includes alloy wheels, upgraded stereo & speakers, power package ("power windows, door locks and sideview mirrors; remote keyless entry with Saturn Security System; cruise control; automatic headlights; map lights and an auto-dimming mirror with compass and outdoor temperature gauge"). After gm employee pricing and incentives, it came to $11,950 including destination, but not tax. State of MI gets another grand.

Mike-------Great to hear about your new ride. But the only sad thing is that you won't be around much on GenVibe. It was members like you that keep this website alive and friendly. But still come on out to the meet and let us see your VUE--as you are one of our ALUMNI.Best Regards---James (Vibe)

My mom has a VUE. She was waited till they came out with the 4 cylinder with the special trans.Honestly, I liked the VUE. I loved how it handled in our snow season (with all wheel drive).Personaly, I like the saturns. Nice cars, easy to fix when needed too. But I didnt want that big of a car. I wanted like a mini-SUV.The best thing about those cars are the trans. You dont feel the shift. You dont feel that "jerking", that was the best.

Mike stopped in last week to pick up my spring compressor and also show me his new Vue. The interior with the tan cloth fits well with the the exterior green and smoke tint windows. Congrats on your new ride.

actually, saturn stopped selling VUEs equipped with the CVT a couple of months ago. they have been having lots of problems with that tranny.i test-drove a VUE before i got my vibe, and i was really impressed with the 6 cyl. awd. but it would've been almost $10,000 more than my vibe.the local saturn dealer has been advertising the 4 cyl. manual VUE with the sport package for right around $12,000 after all gm employee discounts and incentives. not a bad price!

I drive by a VUE Redline everyday on my way home. Actually doesn't look too bad. Still too big and SUV-like for me, though.Congrats! Great deal!

Congrats on the VUE. It's funny... I stopped by the Saturn dealership this week to take a quick look at the V6. Someone told me that it's the Honda 3.5L SOHC engine that is used in the Odyssey, Pilot, and MDX. The salesguy confirmed it.

So now, you can get pontiac with a yamaha motor built on a toyota carolla platform, a saab owned by gm the is actaully a subaru wrx wagon, a satrn with a honda motor, and i'm sure there's several more i'm missing! crazy car companies and their money!

Oh a Vue!! Wow I considered a Vue too...especially the V6 with the Honda engine. But like you said it was way more at that time. I got my Vibe for now...I think maybe when the Vue goes hybrid then I might consider it again when I might trade in.Congrats on the new car...Rainforest Green is the same color I would have gotten too!!

Does it apply across the board? Damn, wish I worked for GM...

FYI: Columbus, OH Ad 5-9-04: 2004 VUE Sports Plus Edition, 5 speed, AC. power windows & locks, AM/FM CD, Cruise, 16" alloy wheels, remote keyless entry and Saturn security system; Sticker $18,210 less $1,000 bonus cash and $2,500 Customer Choice allowance, Net $14,710. If the same incentives apply to a VUE without that Sports Plus Edition. whcih is $16,920 MSRP, that would net to $13,420, but seems like you get a lot of stuff for the $1,290 difference. Certainly a decent value if you don't mind shifing gears. From what I can tell the V-6's come with AT standard, the 4 cyl only comes with manual.

ya, sounds very nice... still, sticker price of $29K means you pay $29 up here! unless there's rebates or specials....

well if the price tag was around $24K then i would say that's a great deal.. but $29K is high to me... even for awd.

runner is $2K cheaper? then i'd def have to go toyo! higher resale value, more rugged and durable.... yep, def the toyo! you are talking v6 yes?

noticed a new ad from the saturn dealer in flint...2004 VUE AWD V6. looked like it was loaded with everything but leather and sunroof. GMS pricing after incentives = $17,995 .must take delivery by 6/1/04.that's 7 or 8 grand less than when i was looking a few months ago (of course the one i looked at had leather and sunroof, and maybe better stereo pkg). if they had that price 3 months ago, i probably would have went with the vue!

My son get a 4 cyl 2wd 5 speed for about $14M so $18M ought to be doable for the V6 auto 4wd.
