ok, you know how the dash lights are red?? Well i know you can change the lights/look on other cars. I want blue dash lights instead of red, anybody know if that is possible? The 2004 has different color dash lights, i think!

there was some previous threads on this, I guess the lights in the instrument cluster are LEDs you can change them out but you have to unsolder the old ones, and solder in some new ones. Not sure how eaay it would be to change them to blue, but if you wanted to practice doing it there is a Canadian base vibe instrument cluster on ebay at
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...&rd=1.(canadian means kms instead of miles, °C instead of °F, and base means readline at ~6500 rpms)Ends May-11-04 17:42:15 PDT currently 1 bid for $5

My 2004 Vibe cluster is red and white... dominated by white I might add. I liked the red which was one of the reasons I wanted a Vibe in the first place but I am used to the red and white now. What colour would you try and change it to? If you wanted red and white, buy a 2004 cluster and have it set to your current miles.

nobody has ever made a blue instrument cluster for the vibe/Matrix yet. You could buy aother cluster and get it modified by someone to make it light up blue, but nobody's done that yet, and it might get expensive, and if you care about such things, would kill the warranty on the instrument cluster.

Does the '03 cluster have a red filter behind the gauge face? You can still see the characters/markings are red/orange when the ignition is off and light shines on the cluster, while you can see white characters on the '04's. So, as it appears to me, there is more to the gauge color than the backlighting itself for the '03 clusters.I'm thinking if the cluster does have a red filter, it wouldn't make much difference what color LED's are behind the face. I guess some blue ones would give you some shade of purple, perhaps.Perhaps they used a clear filter and from the way it looks, white LED's for the '04 models. So, I'd guess that's the type of cluster one would want to modify, unless someone can get their paws on just the face itself off the '04 cluster.I dunno!

I bid on the 03' cluster on eBay. If I get it I will see what I can do with conversion of LED's, filters, whatever....

It's not just a film or light gel.The actual LEDs are colored, and they're soldere to the mainboard. It's been researched on MO already...
http://www.matrixowners.com/mo...0bd94To change colors would mean desoldering/resoldering LEDs. Have fun!

Ive worked on worse. I can solder the wings onto a fly Sounds like a combo of changing the LED's and, if needed, modding the face of the gauges with different filter colors. Dangit, gauge cluster went higher than I wanted to spend....
