Hey all just thought that I would post this pic of my tranny to see what you all thought. As you can see in the pic it looks like one of the ribs has carked or is craking in numerous places, it maybe hard to see sorry I couldn't get the cam to take a better pic. But I am taking it in Friday to have it repainted andI am going to have them look at it. Thanks for checking it out and let me know what you think. [IMG][/IMG]

I think they are going to tell you that it is the aluminum casting. alot of the transmissions on the 1/2 ton GM trucks look like that.

It's part of the casting and is not a problem.

normal, normal, normal. been working on toyotas for bout 10 years, seen this all the time. everyone is correct....castings. wouldn't worry about it, now if fluid was SEAPING out of it......THEN WARRANTY, WARRANTY, WARRANTY.

Thanks all I knew that you all would know. Thanks for the info. I wasn't going to spaz out until I asked you all about it first. Thanks again, I am going to have them look into the tranny though and the shifting dilemma that I am having with it. It seems that some days it is fine but other days you can really feel the gears meshing from 2 to 3 which I have read others have had these problems. But the clutch is squeaking also. so I will let you all know what is going on with it. Thanks again later

Hi syclnjr,Did you have any problems changing the tranny fluid? I think if I remember correctly, you had posted before about doing the change. How did it go?I also have noticed that issue with going into 3rd from 2nd. Honestly, when I played with the clutch lever on the tranny itself, it seemed to move very sluggishly. Now, I had assumed that this was normal since I'm not sure how they're supposed to move but it could be possible that the slow movement of this part could cause the gears not to line-up exactly right when shifting. I noticed when I feel it grind a bit, I set it back to neutral then try it again and it's fine. Also noticed that this happens more on cooler days (35-50 degrees). Cold days (below 35 or so) it's just harder to get it into gear anyway. If you find out anything, let us know. I need to take a picture of the part though I think you'll know what I'm talking about if you have someone push the clutch and look down just behing the radiator. ANywho... let us know and goodluck!Dave

I sure will I dropped the car off this morning for paint work and they are going to look at the tranny on Monday or Tuesday. It is the 2 to 3 up shift and to me it feels like the synchros are out of adjustment, They drove it today and were not sure. Also when I am stopped engine off you can hear the clutch squeak or squish not sure. But they are going to look at and let me know what they think and I will let you know as soon as I do. later
