Service before Warranty Expires

I took mine in yesterday to have them address the jerkiness in my power window. I also mentioned that I had this vibration from the passenger side at 20 mph that was loud and annoying. When I picked up the car, the window was addressed but the mechanic would not address the noise because of my tires. He said that they are loud, out-of-balance, and cupped. He said that they need to be replaced because they are down to the wear indicators. I knew this, but was trying to stretch beyond 35,500 miles. The service tech thought that my bearing or my suspension was bad, but they would not address because of the tires. So, what would you do? Put on the new tires and take it back?Until I decide, I will be driving my Yukon XL and getting 12 mpg.

Put new tires on it and take it back. bad tires would only ruin another bearing over a period of time... Would be worth it for you to have to pay for tires but get a free bearing then pay for both after the warranty is done.

I agree. Replace the tires first. The tech won't be able to fix a suspension problem correctly if the tires are bad.

It does sound like you need new tires. How many miles do you have on them? Be sure to get your alignment checked too. Your tires cupped for a reason, you don't want to do the same thing to the new tires.12 mpg is pretty bad. Hope you're vibing again soon.

sounds like everyone has hit it on the head, replace those tires, back in the early 90's the corolla had a problem with the goodyears (those tires are junk invita gl???) and if the customer did not rototae them they got real bad. and since you live in this great state of michigan, get the alignment!!!!

I had my wife take the Vibe in and have the new tires installed. I now have an appointment to have it looked at on Thursday. I hope to have it back for Friday.

My tires cupped because I didn't rotate them often enough. I also had the crappy Contis. Normal tires wouldn't deteriorate like that, but a POS is a POS.I now rotate my Pirellis religiously.
