I just was curious if anyone else had a ATV and what brand??? I shopping for one, but have no real idea of which one i want. Don't really want to spend over $4000 and don't want a used one. Any opinions welcome
I've been riding for over 20 yrs. Used to race, but now just go out and get crazy every now and then. I ride a Suzuki LT250R with numerous mods. It rips....anyways, What are you looking to do with it? Are you into going fast, jumping, ripping through corners, or more into mudding, rock-crawling, and general backwoods mayhem? There's quite a few sport quads on the market now. Personally, I'd go with a Yamaha Banshee, because I'm really into 2-strokes, but they can be finnicky and harder to tune/wrench on. The new four-strokes of the day are very easy to maintain and most have electric starts and such.If you're in to the sport quad scene, check out the forums over at http://hbombfilms.com . You gotta kinda weed through the kiddie crap, but there's some good info in there. While you're there, check out the first ever back-flip on a quad! It's insane! From what I've been reading, all the new quads are quite even and boils down to personal preference/best deal.
Depends on what you want to do with it. I wanted one I could play around with, but also do some work with it. I bought a Honda Recon back in 97 (98 model) which is a 250cc single 4 stroke, 2 wheel drive. I have a CycleCountry plow for it to plow snow in the winter which makes snow removal ALOT more fun, and have even pushed some dirt with it. I also bought a hitch for it, which along with my 4 x 8 flatbed trailer has been worth it's weight in gold. I moved 18 yards of black dirt with it (many trips, but it got the job done) for backfill when I built by polebarn, but the dumptruck couldn't get into my back yard, so he had to dump it in my driveway. And another 10 yards last fall when I filled the area where I took out my pool in the back yard, and had to have the dirt dumped in the driveway in the front of the house again. For what I've been using it for, it's been great for me. It goes pretty well for a 250 4 stroke also if I want to bomb around in the woods. My 2 year old boy loves it also. Here's a 500k windows media clip of him starting it when he was about 20 months old.http://mail.chartermi.net/~cla...1.wmv
Sorry, i did kinda make it a little too general. I was acutally trying to get a Suzuki Ozark 250 for around $3500, but i found a used 98 Yamaha Wolverine 350 4x4 for only $2800 and only 180 miles on it. I working with my bank to get a loan as we speak, so it should be a matter of a few days before i'm on my Wolverine.
