Window clicking.

My Driver side window clicks while going up or down about halfway. Also when I close my door with the window down, it sounds like something metal is loose inside the door (that's how I really noticed it). But when the window is up the door sounds fine when closing it. Any feedback will be helpful as I'm taking it to the dealer on Monday morning.

I had the same thing on my drivers side window. the dealer fixed it. he said it has been a common problem with a loose bolt in the door. they put locktight on it and has been ok since. that was over 30,000 miles ago. i have 52,000 now...

Took mine in last Thursday for the fix. Seems on the '03s, especially on the drivers side, the window can hit the door limiter (Flat bar that keeps the door from opening 180 in thw wind, etc.) Anyways my dealer has seen it before and the fix was to remove the panel and the limiter, grind it down a little and re-install and re-allign the window and tracks. Now it's nice and quiet.

This is what the dealer did to fix the problem"Right front door power window regulator to resecure and reposition loose regulator arms"So far the problem has been fixed.

DO NOT use your window. See posts under "window clicking". Two of us have had our windows shatter and explode. Post if your dealer diagnoses the problem.

We tore into my door today, and found the front bolt where the regulator attaches to the glass loose. Tighten it up and no more clicking!!!!

To be more exact, the bolt we found loose was where the window regulator bolt to the window insulator, which is then bonded to the glass itself. We looked at the parts catalog today, and back at the car before we put the door panel back on, and determined that if the bolt got loose enough it COULD hit the door metal structure and that could ram the insulator into the glass with enough force to break it....Shicho, did your glass seem to break from the bottom up?

Just heard from the dealer: turns out it was a misaligned power window regulator...the technician said he had heard of this, though not actually seen one before mine...he's also a google monkey ;' )In any event, the dealership fixed at no cost and loaned me a GMC Envoy to tool around infor the last few days - I get my auto back in a few hours. If you want to buy a Pontiac, GMC or Cadillac in Kansas City, MO, you could do a LOT worse than buying a car from Major Cadillac...

Same here! Had to get that and my windshield fixed at the same time. It is a common problem on 03 Vibes (the tech slipped that info out to me lol)

OK, my car just started doing this on the weekend! I hit the auto down button, and about 8" from being fully retracted - BANG! When you roll it back up - BANG! at the same spot. Can I fix this myself? I'm a million miles (OK, less than that, but you get my drift) over warranty, and I hate to give that dealership money!

I had the same problem last month with drivers side window, the regulator broke and broke my window when bringing it back up. really pissed me off because i had 9 miles left till warranty ran out and i like 45 miles from the nearest pontiac dealership, after a week my dad told them if they won't cover it under warranty if i roll over driving in then they can bring a tow truck and come get it.

FYI, I fixed mine today! Thanks so much for posting those pictures - that did a world of good. Here's how you get to the innards: remove the 2 screws from the door panel (one in the handle cup, and one behind a little door behind the door release handle). Pull really hard on the bottom of the door panel, working your way up. They're pretty big plugs that you have to dislodge. Since I have power windows, I found it was easier to remove the 3 screws holding the switches in place, rather than unclip the electrical harness (it's really tight). Also, unhook the speaker. Pull back the blue plastic (be nice to the sealant) to see the offending part. If you've got a hammer & punch, you could probably take the pin out of the "door retainer" but I just removed the entire thing from the door frame (black hex bolt). Also, remove the 2 gold hex bolts from the door to remove the door retainer. Grind off the offending corner, then re-install everything. To get the door panel back on, you need to clip the top ledge first. What was happening on mine was the "door retainer" was hitting the window as it rolled up & down. No doubt the BANG I heard was the window slipping off the top edge of the door retainer. I took it out, had my neighbour grind 1/8" off, and it's good as new.If you're having the same problem, then your window should make the banging sound when the door is CLOSED, but will operate normally when the door is OPEN.My husband has asked me to note that while I was fixing my car, he was standing around in the garage, drinking beer, and saying , "Thank God one of us is mechanically inclined!"

this is a very common problem with our vibes havent had this problem with mine yet but the problem is with the door limmiter . dont recommend grinding it off . when the door is overextended it bends the limmiter a new version available that is bent so that it does not hit the glass anymore
