Lowered my Vibe!!!

I just lowered my Vibe on Tuesday. I used Skunk2 coil overs. The rear setup sucks on this kit. The top spring purch that keeps the coils centered on the upper mount is a rubber top hat shaped boot. I guess they wanted it to also act as a bump stop because if lowered more than 3 inches the rear shock body rides on it giving a harsh bouncy ride. Even raising it up about 1/2 an inch it still hits on a hard bump. I'm going to make a new upper perch for the Spring to set on that will allow the shock to travel fully up into the mount and cut down the stock bump stops and place them back on the shock. Hopfully this will improve the ride at the hight adjustment I've got it set at. Has anyone installed the Skunk2 coilovers and incountered this problem with the rear??? If my new purch works I'll post dimentions and parts used to make it. It will require some welding.

I had the back lowered to 3 inches and had to raise it a half an inch because of the ride. It was rough. I'll take some more pics of it in daylite once it stops raining where I live. rain suck!! In the pic it's actually lowered 2.25 inches in front and 2.5 inches in the rear. That was after I raised it up a half an inch. Rear shock still hit that rubber boot though on a hard bump. Gotta fix it!!!!

I had the skunks but never installed them...i chose to sell them. After looking at the spring rates I realized the stock shocks would not be able to handle them. I also had an issue w/ there being no installation instructions anywhere b/c the kit had some different parts to most coilover kits and the only other person I knew who installed them on our car had a shop do them so he couldn't really help me.....and then his shocks blew a few weeks later so I was glad I sold them. I wouldn't ride around slammed if I were you b/c there are still no aftermarket struts for our car. With the right strut however, the Skunks will make your car out-handle just about anything....they are the firmest springs I have seen anywhere....they are actually race springs and not really designed for much street use.....definately not any rough streets.Let us know how it goes w/ them-Phil
