Has anyone attempted to replace the factory amp from the moon and tunes package to an aftermarket one? I was wondering how hard this would be to accomplish.

desgundo asked about that in http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=7174, not sure what the outcome was. There's a M&T wiring diagram at http://forums.genvibe.com/zero...o.gif that shows the pinouts for the amp. I don't know if anyone makes an adapter harness for the amp like Metra and Scosche make for head units, so you'd probably have to cut off the connectors at the amp and splice in new connections for the new amp. Also, the M&T amp has outputs for the tweeters by the side mirrors, the new amp might not, so you may need to come up with some sort of crossovers for them.

There is someone that did it. You can't just "plug in", you need to bypass the M&T amp by either making "jumpers", or by completely rewiring things.Basically, you'd want to get a hi-level to line-level converter for behind the radio, and use RCA's to connect to the new amp. Then, you can "jumper" the M&T connectors to the speakers. If you get a 4 channel amp, you should have no problem powering all six of the factory speakers. Though, I would highly reccomend changing out the factory speakers at some point, as they aren't really designed for the power that an aftermarket amplifier can put out.
