according to the NUMMI website, the VIBE is going to be exported to JAPAN as a TOYOTA called the VOLTZ. If TOYOTA is putting their name on it, we all got an awesome vehicle in the VIBE then. http://www.nummi.com/voltz.html

It doesn't sound like you know this but the the Vibe has always been a Toyota. The Vibe is a twin the the Toyota Matrix and both are based of the Corolla platform. It's the same thing as the old Geo/Chevolet Prizm that was nothing more than a Corolla with Geo/Chevy emblems.For some reason Toyota desided to use the Pontiac Vibe look for the cars they export to Japan.

It will also mean a good supply of replacement and aftermarket parts for the Vibe.

Hopefully the Japanese Voltz accesories are compatable with the American VIBE, meaning that We will have more accessories to choose from.

When I went to the dealer to test drive a vibe I opened the hood up and seen Toyota stamped on a few things. So after my test drive, which I thoroughly enjoyed I went inside and talked to the salesman and he filled me in on the Vibe/Matrix thing. Thats what sent m e over the edge about getting the car was the "TOYOTA" affiliation. That and being a mechanic myself (Mostly German marine diesels used in the leopard main battle tanks) I really appreciated the room under the hood to work.

The room under the hood is impressive. The first thing I said to the salesman when I opened the hood was: "A V6 could easily fit in here." Hopefully, one will be in there in a few years.
