Nice door mods, Think the Vibe could handle this?

I have always been a fan of raised doors, having seen a few done but never on the Vibe. Now this would take a lot of work and $$$ Bling bling but here is what the Matrix looks like. I'm sure it could be done to the Vibe.

i don't see why not. but i wouldn't want to spend more than $50 on something like that. plus, w/ my job... it wouldn't be practical. cool, but not practical.

hydrolic lamborgini hinges cost $1200...if you want automatic lamborgini doors it's $1800. I am one step ahead of you

I don't think i'd scissor it. I'd wanna gull-wing.. but I don't think it'd look right on the Vibe...However, i'm a big fan of suicide doors, and I think it'd be *****ing to suicide both the rear doors...but have it LOOK stock. GAH. So beautiful. The Matrix you posted, however, does frighten me.

I don't know man, it's starting to look like it's about to fall apart, or it's a Transformer robot changing forms.

Actually I found the pic on a Vibe page, someone showed up with that car at a meet he was at. http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/303649 I'd love to do that to my Vibe...

I like that, but I do not have the money and the time to do it...If i win to the lottery, this is the knid of thing I would do on my car.

I'd have to pass on the scissor doors up front.I do like the rear suicides though. Or, "reverse opening" as some politically correct folks would call them.

What are the advantages of such a mod? Is it easier to get in and out? Is it safer in case of a crash? If its a mod strictly for cool looks with no real purpose then I'm gonna have to call it RICE. Just another useless expensive mod with no purpose (like an oversided wing, or a hood scoop where there is no intake)

Beside looking good, I do not see any advantage doing this mod...Each his way to spend his money....

Cars with suicide doors (whether front or rear) are easier to get in and out of, IMO. My grandfather had a '67 Lincoln convertible up until recently, and the rear suicides on it made it a breeze to get in and out of the back seat. Then again, that car was designed with those doors in the first place.

Cars with suicide doors do not have B pillars. That Matrix still does. I do not really see the advantage to it. In fact, for a daily driver, I wonder how well a mod like that will hold up over time. It looks like something that is good for a show trailer queen, but can it take the pounding of normal usage? It looks cool, but I will let someone else look cool with it. If those prices (over $1000) are necessary to do the mod, there has got to be a ton of mods that are more worthwhile that could be done for the money.

I'd only consider doing a mod like that if I showed the car and drove a different one. And if I had the money lolBut it looks good to me and the rear doors would make it easy to climb in and out.

You see a suicide-door-type concept on the current Saturn ION...coined as "dual rear access doors."

Sierra and Silveraudo Pickups are the same way with their third door. Dodge also.

Yes, the only purpose for lambo type doors is for show. It is NOT 'rice'. Theres no real reason to put overlays on your car but for show, so is that rice?

I guess that cars that come with wing doors are stock ricers?

personally I have done suicide kits on cars and trucks. And the rear doors would be a beatch and would neevr stand up to opening and closing daily they would sag. When installing them you have to mount the hinges as far away from each other as you can to get it rigid enough and so it won't sag. I bet on that Matrix when he shut the back dorrs he had to lift up on them if not I bet the doors weighed 1000 pounds a piece with all the beef up that you have to do.Previously TRDvibe disliked suicide doors but I think that you are thinking of them on a truck with an extended cab. totally different since the rear door acts as a B pillar for the front door or where the front door latches too. You other guys are right newer trucks wth extended cabs and three or four door options have no b pillar, Liconln and Thunderbird buy the pics yes. Those old Lincolnc are awesome. Well there is the two cents that I have til next time later

I thought that there were some cars with suicide doors that were around before those that also truely had no B-pillar like the pics of the trucks here. Isn't the Honda Element (Ugliment) like this with no B-pillar?
