Wrecked my Vibe!

*cries* nooo!!!! the whole front assembly got pushed back about 4 inches, the front 2 tires were, uh, ripped off, and the back right door needs to be replaced ... that's what hitting an 8 inch curb at 70 miles an hour will do to yu ... $4-5,000 damage and 3-4 weeks to fix it

Seems like you're OK so thats good. Anyone else involved? How did the rear door get damaged. Imagine what it would look like if you had lowered it over 2".

man that stinks! Where were you driving with 8 inch curbs??? At least your all right. Don't let the shop cheap out on the parts to do the repair. Make sure they use quality stuff!Years ago my friend was driving his parents Caprice wagon when he spun out going fast around a turn and hit the curb sideways with the rear wheels. Well, those rear wheels stopped right there, and the body of the car kept going! Ripped the rear axle and driveshaft right off! Needless to say that thing was totalled! Its amazing how much damage a curb can do if your going fast enough. Be careful out there!

Glad to see that you're OK. I too am wondering what happened that the car hit a curb, especially at 70 MPH! Hopefully everything will turn out ok for the repairs, too.

Man sorry to hear that but $4000 sounds reasonable to fix? Are you leasing because they should give you all new factory parts and paint. To give you an idea of what I mean by "reasonable" My first Vibe went up in flames... Before it got paid off by the Insurance Co and I got a brand new one., The damaged appraised @ $30,000.00 (no s--t)

Sorry to hear about your crash. You didn't 'accidentally' run over b/f in the process, did you? (Lame attempt at humor)

well, i got it back a couple days ago, and guess how much is ended up costing?? over 7,000 bucks! (removed)!? lol, total and complete crazyness ... well, atleast i have full coverage, i only had to pay the $250 deductable, but my insurance rate will go up *sigh*

Well two rims with tires (stock) is probably $1000 right there, plus straightening any damaged frame parts, new oil pan perhaps? rad? bumper pieces and all that? plus labour and taxes? $7000 seems justified.

lol, sorry yea, it looks pretty nasty ... but i still cant belive it was over 7k to fix *day'umn* but the deductable was only $250, and they payed me 10 bucks every day it was at the shop cuz i didnt get a rental car ... so, yea. i made $120 bucks on my wreck *(removed)* yea right ... i'll spend that much more a year on car insurance now *heh*

That is a pretty steep bill, but such is the nature of car repair sometimes.

Doesn't look $7000 bad from that particular pic...any others?

by vibe_raider
nope. that the only chance i got to take a pic of it all messed up, it was only out side for that weekend and they were closed so i couldnt get in, that pic is through the fence. then they moved it into a building to work on it and i didnt see it until it was fixed. yea, it doesnt look 7000-dollars-bad to me either.

Did they itemize the repair ticket? The part that isn't apparent from the photo is what damage was done to the underpinnings. Add to that straigthening the body out if any of that was bent and I can see $7000. Still doesn't make that amount "reasonable" though.

yea... they gave me a huge list of things they did and the prices. it adds up pretty quick *sigh* oh well... life goes on. thank god for insurance!!!

yep. got it done at Trimbachs Body Shop. they did a great job. looks and rides exactly the same, and they did it for about a thousand less than any other place offered
