HELP?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Does anyone know what the salary for an entry level information technology specialist should be? I'm getting a transfer and i'm not sure what to request.... one of the IT guys said $35k a year (US)... any comments?

i think it's also going to depend on where you are.. east coast pay is predominantly lower due to lower cost of living etc.... up here pay is considerably higher usually but cost of living is more too.

Go to monster.com - they have salary information I think.Or a do a google search for salary listings.

well i know boston and most of new england is spendy. when i was in Norfolk, i would have had to take an $800 pay cut for the same job including 2 yrs experience w/ supervisor/branch opperator there. I'd go from making $2300/mo to $1500/mo. when i started working in banking, i had absolutely no experience and i still made $1700/mo! so it was like going back 2 yrs! and this was 4 yrs ago.

Yes, it depends very much on the local area, your work experience, and your education. My IT prof told us about 2 years ago that his IT students were getting job offers to start at $60K-$65K as about average for students with a 3.5 GPA or above. He said one of his top students took a job to start for $74K per year. These numbers were most likely for other parts of the country, I don't see them paying that kind of wage around here.
