So0o0o here's the deal.... the vibe was my first car, so i got a auto. one reason was cause i couldnt drive yet let alone pay attention to shifting and the other was that they only had a manual at the dealer.So0o0 now that i can drive (or think i can) i'd like to experience a manual - which is what i wanted in the first place. Is there any way i can change my tranny and get a manual????

Let's see, you want to change your Vibe to look like a Matrix (http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=935) and now you want a manual instead of an automatic. So basically you bought a automatic Vibe but wanted a manual Matrix. That's bright. Trade it in and buy one with a manual. If you go to a Toyota dealer, you can get a Matrix at the same time and kill 2 birds with one stone.
This is going to be a costly mod for you. But if you are willing to spend the money it can be done. You can of course sell your auto trany and this will help off set the cost. Might try ebay.I'd keep my eye out for a wrecked Vibe, Matrix, Corolla or Celica. Not sure if Corolla's have manual tranys? Make sure they are 2000 model years or newer. You should be able to pull the manual trany and clutch out of one of them and make it work. You'll of course need to take the hydraulic master cylinder and all the lines for it. Any sensors that are attached to the trany will need to come with it.You'll have to check but I don't know if the ECM in the auto Vibes is the same as the ECM in a manual Vibe. The reason I say this is in a auto the ECM controls shifting points and torque converter lock up. If you remove this and it's not there anymore it might cause a CELL to light and drivablility problems with the engine. This is something your really going to have to research before doing. Find a good Toyota mechanic and ask what you need and what it will run you.You can all ways buy everything you need from Toyota but this will be very costly.Good luck.
Hey thanks for the info.... i realize this is gonna be a hassle so maybe ill just wait for my next car to get a manual...
