I am buying my wife a VW Jetta GLS 1.8T. I am a little iffy on the new exterior chrome but the car is great for the money. Sticker is 23800 and I am walking out the door tax tag title for 20300. The final bargaining ended when I got the car to 19600 w/o tax tag title. I should p/u tomorrow. Just waiting for the credit Union to cut the check. It comes with leather, Electronic Stability control, sport suspension and tires and splash guards.

ya, no kidding! you'll have to get that s/c then! that way you can keep up when her turbo kicks in about 2500-3000 rpms!

Sounds like you got a really good deal on the Jetta! I am sure she will like it, and if you need something a little faster than the Vibe, just "borrow" the Jetta for an afternoon!

I get the Jetta for the first week I just had shoulder surgery about two weeks ago and I can't drive the vibe b/c the shifter is too high and requires a bit more strength than my arm has right now. I test drove the Jetta last night and it was a sinch. I MISS MY VIBE. I haven't driven it since 3/10. Hopefully next week.

Even with the SC, he's not gonna keep up with the 1.8T....they pull on GT's...and we know where the SC sits compared to the GT...Try it and let us know!

hmm... ya, i'm waiting til the weather's nicer so i can race my buddy's 1.8T golf. i've driven it and the low low end torque is non existant until you get to 3000 rpms where the turbo kicks. i think i can prob take him (he's not the best driver) and w/ the cai and unichip.... may have a chance provided i get it in lift before he figures it all out! lol

I picked up the car last night. All I can say is Holy Ish that thing is fast and the engine is not broken in yet!!! I was going 95 mph and my rpm were less than 3K. Smooth as ice!!!! It handles like its on rails. I am very impressed.

Glad to hear your impressed! Now just remember to properly break in that Turbo motor! Beat on it too much in the beginning, and it is sure to drain your wallett down the road!! Have fun!

I am not letting the motor go over 4K rpm. I am taking it easy. I hit the 95 mph on the interstate just cruising. I didn't think I was going that fast.

Ya know, chipping that 1.8T engine will increase HP by MORE than 50hp, and even greater torque gains. Don't let her read this thread, or shell smoke you even WITH a GM SC

It was that stable at 95 that you didn't realize it? Nice! If you think its fun now, just wait until you can take it north of 4K! Your not even getting to a big portion of its powerband yet! You sure your going to want to give it up?

I love driving it, but I know I am on borrowed time. The car is hers and she will kick my (removed) all over the place once we switch cars. the thought of it is depressing me already, but I have accepeted it.

Ok I have been driving my car for 1 week now. I feel like I'm driving in slow motion. I miss that damn turbo. I feel a little depressed. I am suffering from lackofturboitis. I don't think the supercharger that GM put out will even cure my cravings. I WANT A TURBO IN MY VIBE. TOo bad it costs like 4G's

TOo bad it costs like 4G's that's cause you have the base.... if you had a GT, it would be very similar. i've driven mine and my buddy's gti.... his is fun, but i like mine better.
