Honda/Acura has some new cars with dash vents that are strikingly similar to ours also. They are probably made by a private company that contracts with car makers to manufacture these parts for different kinds of cars. It is often more cost effective for the carmakers to use parts that are available on the market rather than have to design and make them for themselves. The dash gauge cluster may be the same deal. Might be made by an outside company that uses the same concept for different applications. The font of the numbering as well as the overall shape/layout of the gauges makes me think that the Vibe/Matrix is not the exclusive user of these parts. And the 3 dial HVAC control setup is nothing new or Vibe exclusive. They were very similar on my '94 Grand Prix.

True, but I think they would have pulled it off pretty seamlessly if they used white faced gauges instead of the black. The dashboard and most of the interior is a lighter color and it might not look so out of place if the gauge faces were white/silver. Other than that, I don't think the design looks particularly odd for the car.

I have noticed that a lot of cars are going with this style. The Mazda 3 has a similar guage layout, but they at least have blue in the gauges.

to me, the altima is more of a luxury, classic environment inside. the vibe is a more modern, racelike interior, where these guages belong.

Bah, it looks nothing even close to the same. It looks more like the Titan and Aramada than anything else. And it should, since they are all Nissan products.

automakers go by trends. Nothing is original anymore. Most of the automakers hire designers from other companies, so there is all sorts of copying going around. Many of the designers also came out of the same art schools. It's pretty arrogant of Vibe owners to say .... "They copied us" when its more likely that everyone copied everyone else. That's the way the industry is set up - and its been like that for decades.

Well before the Vibe was introduced. The old Datsun 240Z had similar gauge pods too.Did anyone notice that all cars have 4 tires?Man, what a coincidence!
