does he have a 4 cyl or a v6 mazda 6? either way, the 4 cyl is still 160 to your base 130 hp. so, he should win.

He wins. I've always liked the way Mazdas feel from behind the wheel. Bet your freind is smaller than you and a that little seat and wheel adjustment would help you fit properly. I'm not into thee interior look of the 6 either but at least there are some soft surfaces. I checked out a Mazda 3 5 door recently. Nothing seems as space efficient or useful as a Vibe.

Sounds like a tall guy like me would have a difficult time fitting into one of those then. I love the leg and headroom I get in the Vibe. I like the outside design of the Mazda though.

yes, but i believe the torque is also much greater than our vibes... plus it prob weighs a little less too.

my vibe is not priceless, but it is paid for. That gives my vibe plenty of advantage over Mazdas

I'd bet the Mazda 6 is heavier than you think. My g/f took a base Mazda 6 for a test drive a few months ago and I rode in the back seat. I was thoroughly impressed with the room there was in the rear of the car. I was sitting directly behind her, and she always puts her seat way back when driving and I still had room to be comfortable. I was surprised a bit at it's lack of "oompf" to pull us up a hill with the A/C on. That was the factor that made her decide against the 6. But I was still surprised at how nice the interior seemed. I bet the V6 in that car would make all the difference.

Mazda 6 2.3l 0-60 8.6sec.So,I don't know what base do you have. But if you have a 5 speed you have a pretty good chance to kill him.I guess it is going to be a drivers race.Good luck!

Sorry Polo - it was me that needed to sober up. Looks better this morning. It has been awhile since I was in Montreal but I remember buying some beer and thinking that at those prices one might become an abstainer! Nah!

If it's that close of a race with both automatics, then you gotta take him at the startup. When you're waiting for the light to turn green, slip it into neutral and keep the engine revved up at 1,500 RPM's. The instant it turns green drop it into Drive and floor the gas pedal at the same time. ^^

My tranny's doing fine after 1.5 drops. Maybe I'm just an exception or something. *Shrugs*

it'll take time to wear. i definitely wouldn't do that. i guess though, the new tranny would go good with the new engine

I'll take your word for it then Yeah, a new tranny would go well with the new engine, but it would go bad for my empty wallet Psst, Polo, nevermind, don't do what I said.

I got a brochure for the Mazda3 and Mazda3 5-door in the mail yesterday. From one picture of the back of the 5-door with the hatch open and the rear seats folded down (with a snowboard in the car), it looked like the rear seats don't fold flat. What's with that?? On the other hand, I find some of the hard surfaces of the Vibe interior unflattering. My elbow hurts after resting it on the center cover. Alittle more give in the materials would be better.

Other than the exterior styling and the HP numbers, I find nothing else to rave about in this car that the Vibe hasn't got.
