The GM card is relitevely easy to get. You can have any derogs in the past 12 months and a score above 640. They DO report to all 3 CRAs so if you are into maintaining a good redit report this card is it. This is however my highest (most expensive card) in terms of APR(12.99). I never carry a balence on it so its no problem for me.I may see if I can negotiate for a lower APR but like I said it doesn't matter since I have yet to pay a penny in finance charges.

I don't have one... I don't need another! I've already got 4 different ones. My boyfriend has one though and its the only one he has. Hmm... must be why I'm in debt and he's not!

I don't have one. Almost all of my cc purchases are on my "Toys R Us" credit card. I get coupons (at least 1% back) toward purchases at Toys R Us. With three kids, those coupons come in very handy at Christmas / birthday time.

I have had one for over 10 years. Finally, cashed it in on my 2004 Vibe. It gave me extra $3788 off. I have to admit that I would not have bought a Vibe if it weren't for the GM Card. I have stopped using it since and am not sure when I will use it again.

My friend just bought a Cavalier with the rebates on his GM card. After the rebates on the car itself from GM, and the rebates on his GM card, he ended up paying $7000 for the car, which he financed by charging it onto the card. So he has a good start towards another car with all the rebates earned from it!

He isn't hurting for cash at all and certainly could afford more car than a Cavalier. But for a daily driver to get around, he found one heck of a deal.I certainly understand about the brand loyalty too. I had a Ford card a few years back. I owned a Ford Probe (91) and was planning on buying the redesigned version in 98 or 99. Well, that version turned into the Cougar which I didn't like, so I ended up getting a low mileage used 97 Probe and didn't take the rebates. I still have the card, and Ford dumped the program. So it is now just a "Drivers Edge" card and earns rebates towards the purchase of any vehicle, new or used. It doesn't get as many rebate points as say a GM card, but at least it doesn't tie me down to one manufacturer... or even having to buy new!

The Gm Card is nice. I have one but will be switching to a Airlines one so I can get flyer miles. The Gm card has hurt people now since you can not use your gm discount (GMS pricing) and your points from your card. It is either one or the other. So unless you put a lot of stuff on your card to earn lots of points then its just not worth it.

Ohhh, and I forgot to tell you that they lowered how much you get back too. It went from 5% of what you spent to only 1%. That is a drastic change when you look at how much that is towards a car or truck, or a nice new VIBE

I've had one for over 10 years and have used it twice. I bought a GM powered motorhome about 6 years ago, at the time of purchase the dealer told me it doesn't work for GM powered RV cab and chasis units. Long story short, 6 months later while at an RV forum on the web a guy mentioned he'd used his rebate on a motorhome, he gave me the name of someone at GM to call, I called they asked for my VIN # and said they'd look into it, 30 minutes later they called and said there was a check for $2800 in the mail, it was a huge and unexpected windfall!! I also used it on the Vibe and got about $2700 off, plus the $2,250 rebate and a big dealer discount, only paid $11k for the Vibe Unfortunately newer GM Card holders don't get the same deal us longtime cardholders get, there are now limits on the rebate depending on model, I think the Vibe's is $1k max, but for those of us with older cards there is no limit GM Cards

Awesome deal on the car Mr.D! Too bad they cheapened up the card for new users. At least they still have it. Ford dumped theirs all together. Chrysler offers a card too, probably with similar restrictions to GM's new policies.I would think your RV dealer would have known you could use the rebates on the chasis/cab purchase! It would help him sell RV's if he could tell customers they could get additional money off with their rebates. It amazes me when dealers who know so little about the incentives and rebates stay in business. Sure they want to make more money, but its not like they don't get reimbursed from GM for stuff like that! Congrats on getting GM to straighten it out and send you the check!

Thanks, the GM Card people are first rate, they were very surprised about the dealer not being educated about the GM Card as well, oh well they aren't GM dealers but RV dealers. Another plus to the GM Card are the specials offered to members, every so often you get special deal offers, like an additional $1k off for GM cardholders, or an additional $100 GM card earnings if you go test drive certain GM cars, I always take advantage of those specials. They also usually have GM card lounges at the major auto shows and free tickets for GM cardholders.

Thought I'd resurrect this thread...My parents have had a GM card and the bonus they just got in the mail is what convinced them to make an appointment with the dealer tomorrow to look at (and knowing them buy) a G6...So I signed up right away -- wanna start earning as much as possible so I can have a shot at a Solstice or even a G6 GTP next year...This is the style card I'm getting too. I'm excited!!!

IIRC, the GM card (still) uses a two-cycle average daily balance calculation to determine interest. If you DON'T pay the balance in full EVERY month, you're paying some extra interest over the cards that use a one-cycle daily balance calculation.

Fear not, I ALWAYS pay off my balance! Thanks for the warning though!

If you have the GM Extended Family card, you can use the 1% with the GMS price. In December, they gave a bonus and now my brother is driving a 04 GTO for under $100 a month on a 24 mo lease with no money down! It seems that GM plays with bonuses on the cards as much as regular incentives!hn

Had one for over 15 years. I put all my business expenses on it. Just got $3,383 off the Vibe with $'s accumulated from the GM Card. If you routinely buy a GM product, I thinks its the best incentive going. Third GM car that I used the incentive $$s. Brian

Realized tonight I can't use the GM card to buy a Saturn...If I ever decide to buy a SKY, this won't help me. *sob*

When you're ready to reach for the Sky, Mike, just move to Canada! Last time I checked, we could still use the GM card at the Saturn store.
