painting for engine cover plastic?

i want to paint the plastic cover over the engine but not sure how to start it should i take it off and sand it prime it then paint it then add a clearcoat or what? same thing with brake calipers any advice please!

what paint and primer would u recomend for the plastic engine cover?. also what paint and other materials would u recommend for brake calipers

As for paint - I haven't done my engine cover (yet!), but for paint that sticks to plastic I can whole heartedly promote Krylon Fusion paints.This stuff even sticks to polyethylene! (think tarps) I can vouch for this one, as it's what I bought the stuff for.It's desiged to bond to plastic, and comes in nice colours.

i used that when i originally painted my interior... but now it's done professionally and i can say it looks much more impressive

This is a lot of great info, I want to paint my calipers also but will wait till I have the read drums converted to disc... otherwise having just painted fronts looks very stupid imo. I want to paint parts of my engine to but not sure of what colour scheme I want that also works with the fusion Vibe... My CAI will be polished... that much I know.

there is no need to sand it just primer it.. i used plastikote... just dont use the andozit..or smthing like that...but yea.. i just primered mine and no problems so far:)
