I took it in and told them of the popping noise when you put it in drive or reverse. They of course said they could not duplicate. Does anyone know what that TSB is for. The sound seems to come from the trans area.

I have had a customer report that noise which we heard, we called tech assistance and were told it was normal for the moment. I am trying to find some technical service info in regards to that.

Sunfires, Cavaliers are the worst for recalls so far. 2003-2004 already have like 2-3 already. Some of those cars as old as 97 have like 8 recalls...

I was just at my dealer and my service manager mentioned something about a new (couple of weeks, she said) bulletin out about aftermarket intakes?? Sorry, she wasn't very specific. And for once, my service dept. finally agreed to fix something. Granted, I had to show the service manager the TSB for the cladding, but still. She was "shocked" (her word) that Pontiac is replacing it.

I am going to guess that the TSB that she mentioned would tell the dealers to deny warranty claims related to this condition. So those of us who have them on will have to uninstall the aftermarket intake, reinstall the stock airbox and tubing, and deny that we ever had an aftermarket intake on the car in order to get the light reset and the vehicle checked to make sure that it was not something else that triggered the light to come on.

If that's all it is, then I'm not going to worry about it. No CEL's since I installed my short-ram. Service manager heard it when I pulled the car into the bay for her to look at the cladding. Oops

TSB = Technical Service Bulletin.from alldata.com:Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) are issued by vehicle manufacturers to help automotive technicians diagnose and repair problems reported by consumers and repair shops. It's amazing how many fixes are found in these bulletins that can't be found anywhere else. Thousands of bulletins are issued by car manufacturers every year.
