Anyone have/seen a double-din stereo install on the Vibe/Matrix?

I've searched the forum and the matrixowners forum and have found nothing. There is also some question as to what size the stereos in these cars are.My sunfire had a 1.5 din for sure. I put an aftermarket 1.5 din stereo in it and it fit perfect. Now the Vibe stereo is considerably bigger. So I know its bigger than 1.5 din (which some swear it is).So I'm 99% sure a double-din stereo will fit. Now, does nayone have one, seen one, have a pciture of the install or anything like that?Any information would be great.Thanks.

I believe a double-din will NOT fit. I think what we have is considered "Din-and-a-half Oversized"...yet another lovely invention by GM. When I head in to work tomorrow, I can pull one of the double-dins we have in the show wall and see if it'll fit into my Vibe. I heavily doubt it though...but i'll try and see.

That would be great! Either way (fit or no fit), would it be possible to take a picture?

Yup, I bring a camera with me everyday. Hopefully i'll have time to do it.. At least, i'll bring some tape and measure it out.

My metra kit came with 2 way to install my HU. I used the standard one with the hole under to put stuff, but I had choice to put something like a double din kit and possibly fit 2 hu or more 1 hu and 1 equilizer.

I remember seeing the Matrix at the SEMA Show with 2 components in the slot (not one double-din, but two separate). If that didn't make sense , look at the pic:http://gallery.genvibe.com/gal...F0139 (click the image for super-size)I have no other details on this installation though.

It looks like the 2nd front option on my kit....

Nick, that looks like a Lanzar 7" DVD monitor and DVD player underneath it..if that's the case..then a Double-din should fit.. In theory, you can take the brackets off the side of the stock radio and screw in the aftermarket one, without the kit.. I think.

I have a feeling you wouldn't really even need the kit for a double-din..just use the mounts from the stock radio..But then, I haven't tried. I don't really have the money to add a different NAV system yet either.. Bah!

The dash kit I have on my car came with two separate front parts, it can accomidate the double DIN or a one and a half for an equilizer- or a storage pocket. It is the Metra turbo kit for the Matrix or Vibe

Where did you get the metra kit from to install in your car? Also, did you have an existing MOON and tunes package, i.e. did you conect to the stock amp?
