I'm starting to wonder if Ford and/or Firestone are somehow being sabotaged. After that last fiasco, there's no way that they could be that sloppy again.

We have a 01 Ford Sport Trac that came with Firestones (after the problems were fixed) and they were one of the best tires we everhad for highway and off-road. We put over 30k miles on em before Fords volluntary free replacement time limit was about to run out. Ford paid for 5 brand new Michlins (sp?) to be installed... I have no complaints! I wish GM would do something even half as good about the POS Continentals on my Vibe.

How would Ford make money if its' image suffers from repeated tire-related deaths? Also, recalling millions of tires has got to cut deep into profit margins as well. Even after just the first time, it's too costly to risk. The deal between Ford and Firestone goes way way back. Henry Ford made strong ties with the founder of Firestone many decades ago. Ford won't just break this deal given the history and Firestone can't risk the bad image either.
