damaged parts -- a rant

I know that there are some dealership employees on the site, so I was hoping that you can explain to me (removed) the problem is with dealerships around here.Today, I had an appointment to take my car to the dealership to get my catalytic converter replaced. The parts were special ordered, and arrived on Tuesday. The earliest I could get the car in was today (Thursday) because I don't actually work in the same city as the dealership, and I have to inconvenience my fiance to take my car in for me.Well, my fiance phones me just before lunch. "I have your car ... but it's not fixed." (removed)? "The parts were damaged in shipping, and they have to reorder them."When the company I work for receives parts, they have to be checked off against the shipping documents. If a box looks damaged from the outside, our receiving people would open the box & take a look before accepting the shipment. Even if they were super-swamped, the box would be opened within a day of arrival. Chances are, this part (a catalytic converter) would have damaged packaging if it were damaged in shipping, right? Why does this happen? What is wrong with these people?I've had other dealerships neglect to notice that the part wasn't in the shipping crate, and phone me to get my part replaced (because the paperwork shows it's here). It's stuff like this that makes me an irate customer. I feel like I'm surrounded by incompetence. I realize no one is perfect, but why does everybody screw up my stuff???
