Rice Rice Baby...

There's a site called Jersey Rice (appropriately subtitled "Saving the Garden State from the one crop we don't want"), and while browsing it I came across some great examples of rice, and other examples of simply poor taste in car decoratingIf you have some stellar rice shots, this is a great spot to add them in! Remind you of something? Perhaps THIS will ring a bell:

F-550?I think that constitutes rice...last I checked, no such truck ever existed...

Well I'll be damned. You're right. I'm wrong. Never heard of them before!Well, the altezza-like tailights and ricy ford-logo decal still make it rice-ish by my standards...

I think that the Fords go up to 950's. Those are the big-rigs. I don't think that they make them anymore, though.(edit) I just checked the site. Yep, they only go up to the F-750 now. Looks like it would be comperable to an International 2600HD.

i'd consider that old bonneville w/the pattern on it more of a custom than a rice, i think it's neat in a unique way. that taurus, however, is just retawded!

I agree with you there, d-man. Except that is acutally a Parisienne and not an old Bonneville. Just about the same car, though. I always wondered why they switched the name.

didn't the parisienne (sp?) precede the bonne? maybe the bonne name replaced it?

Other "Canada-only" model names were Laurentian and (I think) Strato Chief. Can anyone back me up on this? For some period, Pontiac quit selling Bonnevilles in the US, but kept building and selling large, RWD Parisiennes in Canada. Then, they started selling Parisiennes in the US, then reverted to the Bonneville name. I don't know if there was ever a time (I doubt it) when both a Parisienne and a Bonneville were offered in the US at the same time.Looks like we have officially drifted off the thread topic.....

Heres a firebird by my house, I think I've posted it before but...It has green and blue neons EVERYWHERE on it. Green underbody, green liscense frame, blue fog lights, blue and green interrior neons, and blue neon wiper blade neons. There's also a Mercury cougar and Neon witht he same color and have the same dragon decal on the side...not sure if eitehr of those two have neons though.

No, the Parisienne in the US didn't precede the Bonneville. We had a 1964 Bonneville convertible when I was a kid.

Some new rice shots, courtsey bonnevilleclub.com: Those would be 30" wheels by the way...

I'm asuming that is a joke driving a car like that...the way I see it, anything bigger than 19" doesn't belong on a car, and anything bigger than 22" doesn't belong on an SUV or truck unless it has a minimum of 6" lift....otherwise it is just flatout anoying and gawdy.

Please tell me that those cars are Photoshopped!!! (drunken, can you tell???) I saw a show on customized cars on TV recently where they featured some really crazy cars. A wheel/tire shop manager that was interviewed said that currently only wheels up to 25" in diameter were currently being manufactured. Are these a photoshop job or maybe were custom made just for these guys? They're HUGE!!! Funny, neither of those cars is a Bonneville and they were found on a Bonneville club site?

Quote, originally posted by ragingfish »didn't the parisienne (sp?) precede the bonne? maybe the bonne name replaced it?Not to go off topic, but I just did a little research. The Bonneville was introduced in 1957 (replaced the Star Chief). Has been in production from 1957 to the present. A funny thing happened to Bonnevilles in 1982. They shrunk. The Parisienne became the renamed Bonneville and was made from 1982-1988. During those years, they still looked just like a late 70's Bonneville (which is essentially what they were). If I remember correctly, they were still body-on-frame construction while the Bonneville became a unibody in 1982 when it shrank. My grandfather had a nice 1985 Bonneville that was stolen from right in front of his house, twice (never was found after the 2nd time). He replaced it with a 1986 Bonneville. My dad had a 1978 Bonneville (I loved that car and remember it fondly--2 door Brougham with Pontiac 400 engine) that my mom sold to a mechanic at the Pontiac dealer that my dad always went to for service. The mechanic always said how much he liked the car, so when my dad died, my mom sold it to him because she wouldn't drive it since it was so big. My grandfather also owned some Bonnevilles in the 50's and 60's (I have a few old pics).

those huge wheels are chopped, but damn good! the third is the best one to tell: the wheels are motionless, which a camera couldnt capture that well. the light source is directly on the passenger side while the shaddow is directly underneath. also, the front wheel seems slightly off from where it should be.

You may be right about the front wheel, maybe the people are idiots and didnt position the axles correctly...also the top picture the wheels look like they are movin...the light is red in the bottom two pictures so they probably wouldn't be movin on a red light. I dunno...I'd like to think it's not real but it just might be.

Ok, now that I look at it...you're right, it is photo chopped. If you look closely at the first picture of the green one, you can barely see the front end of the orange one behind it! Not so clever after all.

There are rims near that size on cars with stock suspension, though. While I was in Birmingham a few months back, I saw a ghettosled with 26" Daytons on it. Also had a very ugly neon and glittery orange paint job.

ah, i saw a total riced out civic hatchback today. it was complete w/ bondo and unpainted z3 fenders w/ a body kit.... had the fart can going and everything. all in all, it was about 5 diff colors, gray bondo, teal (the orig color i presume), black z3 fenders, white rear valence, and yellow doors (i'm assuming that's the color he's wanting in the end). wish i was able to get a pic, but i'm sure i'll see it around later!

You should see my friend's computer, Canary yellow, cutouts with fiberglass covers, all the wires are hidden, and he has hydraulic switches used top control his internal blacklights.

Ok, Raging fish, since you posted the 30" rims I wanted to tell you about sometihing I saw friday night. I was cruisin with my friend Tony (he's a car freak like me) and he's like "Hey! check out that '76 Grand Prix!" beautiful car...then at that very instant my eyes are blinded and scarred by a ****ty '80s Buick Grand National with what had to be atleast 26"s on it...it was actually raised up just like those two you posted...obviously they werent that high and the wheels weren't that big but it looked SOOOO STUPID! His buddy had a maroon Trailblazer with spinnerz. I couldn't sleep all weekend because it hurt so bad loooking at those two cars.

Who knows...that's what rap does to our society...It was about mile away from Detroit now that I think about it, so big surprise!!! Theres little sections on gratiot (runs a long way and to Detroit) that attract different kinds of cars...its really really weird. Like from Mt.Clemons to about 13 mile there is never any swet cars...then from like 12 mile to 5-8 mile theres Beautiful awsome cars...and then beyond 8 mile it's nothing but sh*tty ghetto cars and stupid chrome gawdy oversized wheels that cost more than the car itself.

I hate big wheels, but I hate small wheels...I saw an escalade (the avalanche version) with 24" spinnerZ and I saw the same model with like 16 stock wheels...I hate spinnerZ and the little tiny wheels didn't quite fit either I gues the moral of this story is that Escalades look stupid no matter what you do to them!
