This article almost seems to have a hidden agenda in it ...Nothing but negatives. Chipping your car is in fact safe - as long as proper testing is done on everything. APR makes chips for Audi and VW, you will not find a better chip company out there for those cars.As far as emissions and vehicular service goes, you don't need to worry. If you get a good enough chip, you can actually just return your car to "stock mode" and the dealer will not know the difference, nor will you fail an emissions test. The best chips that I have seen are where you send your ECU to the company, they solder in the chips, seal the ECU back up, and you can turn it on or off with something as simple as holding the cruise control button for 3 seconds. What is great about that, is that the dealership will NEVER know you did anything, as long as you keep it in stock mode when you take it in. The dealership cannot just go into your ECU and other parts of the car WITHOUT your permission, hooray!Unichip looks like it would be easily removable, and from what I hear, there is enough R&D work done that you don't need to worry about blown engines. That being said, of course problems could arise, but that's what happens anytime you mod your car. The article just seemed to portray chips in such a negative light, I just had to step in.Happy Chipping! :D

I agree. I like the comment from the DaimlerChrysler representative. He basically says that "since we don't make the aftermarket chips, we don't think that the quality is as good as ours". Well then make your own aftermarket performance upgrade chips and sell them at the dealers for God's sakes. Duh. I know, I know, heaven forbid if people should actually have fun with and ENJOY driving their cars anymore. That guy might as well have said "we know that the majority of our cars are of such crappy quality that we aren't sure that they will stand up to any performance modifications". Why can't car manufacturers build cars and make them so the consumers can have what they want from them? Aren't they getting the hint? People are going out and spending all this money on buying their cars then going out and spending a bunch more money to make the car the way they actually want it! This is crazy! Offer some more stuff that we can buy at the dealers (without the 2000% markup) to make the cars the way we want them. Why is this so hard?

OK, now I have to ask. (removed) is a "farker"? I have a decent vocabulary, but you've stumped me!
