I don't smoke but I recently attempted to remove the cigarette lighter so I could plug in my cell and the entire cigarette lighter and assmbly came out about an inch but I could not separate the lighter from the receptacle. This is really odd but has anyone else had this problem? and....how does one get to this assembly to fix it. Any help is appreciated.thanks !!!

Any help is appreciated.thanks !!!I don't smoke either and I hate having to remove the lighter and store it somewhere when I want to use the outlet. While at the Philly auto show I got to see a 2004 up-close and one of the changes was a dash outlet without a lighter. Instead it has a black plastic, flip-down cover like the power outlet in the console. So what I did was go to the local GM dealership and get the 2004 Vibe part number. Because the 2003 lighter has a light ring around it and the 2004 cover doesn't I needed to order a new outlet with the cover. The part numbers are 88971514 (GMPartsDirect.com you can get them for $10.00 and $11.70.Use these 2 links for directions on how to change the outlet:http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id ... d?id=59402 other changes for the 2004 Vibe were cloth visors instead of the vinyl and the rocker panels (on 2-tone cars only). I purchased a pair of cloth visors but I'm waiting for the spring to buy the rockers. The parts numbers are:Driver side visor: 88972901 - dealer = $68.70 - GMPartsDirect.com = $39.16Passenger side visor: 88972900 - dealer = $68.70 - GMPartsDirect.com = $39.16Driver side rocker: 88973002 - dealer = $82.80 - GMPartsDirect.com = $48.84Passenger side rocker: 88973001 - dealer = $82.80 - GMPartsDirect.com = $48.84

They are only replaced if you can show "discoloration". Discoloration of the wheel arches will be replaced under warranty. If the wheel arches have a "sandblast" damage, that isn't covered because they claim it's "normal wear".My wheel arches have neither problem yet. I'm only doing it to prevent it from happening. So Pontiac won't pay to do it.

Scott:Noticed on VibeChick's 04 she had the 03-styled lighter...glowing ring, no flip cover. Think it might just be the US 04's that have the flip top? Also, wasn't that flip top black? The one I got today is a beige/gray color...

GM just likes to twist words around. sorry I go off topic.....

It does not fit the dash (I tried). I was able to get the correct black one for the dash on eBay. It doesn't have the light ring but I don't care. I'm going to install the grey one on the rear hatch area and wire it directly to the battery (fused) so it's powered all the time.If anyone wants my lighter with light ring, make me an offer via IM or email.Wrong one:Correct one from eBay:BTW, the 2004 sunvisors are awesome! Cloth covered and when you move them to the side to block the sun, they slide back to cover more.Again, if anyone wants my vinyl 2003 sunvisors, make me an offer via IM or email.

Hey! I got ripped off then (lol)! My 2004 does not an extra slide out thing, if thats what ya mean? Also mine have a vanity mirror on the drivers side, but none on the drivers side, like your pictur shows. Perhaps another part number? Or maybe my Vibe was put together on Friday at beer:30?
