I plan on installing a jl 500/5 this Monday in the area next to the spare tire. Has anyone else installed an amp in this area and if so...have you run across any difficulties with heat or vibration etc.thanks !!!

Assuming you're going to take out that black tray that carries the jack and all of that?I don't think you'd run into issues. As the gas tank is below the back seat, you should be pretty safe screwing it down.You should also have enough space for airflow. I'd suggest you might want some sort of small fan put in to blow over the heatsink at the top, just to have air moving.. I've thought about moving my amps into that space, i'm just too paranoid to get rid of my spare, or lose that black tray thing...And, as I think about it, make sure to put the amp in before you do anything else. Just fit-test it. Make sure you'll have room to fit all your wiring and that you'll have space around the heatsink..

Depending on the size of the amp, it may fit underneath and off to the side. It looks like there is some unsed space to the sides of the spare compartment, and the pressure relief vents are in there, so there might be some ventilation options.can't put this inline, but here's a pic of the ventshttp://forums.genvibe.com/zero...t.jpg

I put my amp in the spare tire.I habe JBL 180.2 and it fit preatty well.I only had to cut little part of the plastic.I put mine upside down, and I'd suggest to put yours the right way.I haven't had any trouble with it but is it just in case.If you want to see it, take a lool herehttp://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=3185

I cut out the part of the tray where the jack was and installed it there, I had problems with heat when I had the amp bridged, but running normally I have had no problems, I'll get pics up when I get around to making everything pretty in there, right now it looks kinda messy, cause I was planning on installing 3 amps but decided against the other 2, also never finished because its cold outside

i took the whole cargo area apart and installed in on the right side. if i open my little cargo door i can get to it

I waas thinking about this today were to put my amp. I found a few good places to do this at. First like everyone said by the spair, but I dont want to have to take anything out. Next on the back of the seat, but I dont want it to be visiable. Finaly, I think I have decided to put my amp under the back seat. It just unscrews and comes off. This way there are no visiable wires and no one can tell you have an amp.

Most amps I've seen are big enough they will be visible under that seat, even if just peeking out. The 200W M&T amp, from my experience, is unsually small...

I put my JL amp under the driver seat, fits just about perfect. I then just put the floormat over the connections, and it's perfectly hidden.

Well yeah, if you put the mat on top of it that will hide it...but without that I bet it would be visible, even if just a bit...

And I drive with the seat all the way back..unless you had JUST the right angle, you wouldn't see it.
