2 things: mystery button function & amp question

i have been reading the posts in here, but I have two questions that are still unresolved.First, on my stock stereo (maybe american model is different), when you play a CD, the unit goes into CD mode. Meaning, the "1" preset works as fast forward and is noted with two triangles pointing to the right. Preset button "3" is random (noted as RDM), and preset button "4" is rewind (noted as 2 triangles pointing left).Makes sense. What has me stumped is the preset #2 button. it has 2 alternating arrows (going down and up). When i play a CD, the button doesnt do anything. Is this alternating arrows symbol supposed to represent something? Is it supposed to DO anything?Secondly, I hear you all talking about your new amps and subs. I am interested in getting more bass as well, and would like to do the same. When I ordered my Vibe, I got the extra "6 speaker 200 watt premium sound system". So, therefore I have the amp under the passenger seat. Since the car is wired for this amp location, could I not simply replace the amp that is there now with one that has a "sub out" on it?I am assuming its a power issue comes into play alot. I read here there would not be enough juice to power it to its potential without a direct line to car battery. But, do all subs really have this connection? I have a difficult time getting info from forums, as I dont have much of a clue what you guys are talking about! lol! Does anyone know of a good "car stereo for dummies" website? hehehe

On the stock 1 CD stereo, the little up and down arrows on the #2 preset perform the same function as the AUX on the CD/AUX button - nothing.I have a CD/Tpae unit from a Matrix, and the #2 preset's up and down arrows control which direction the auto reverse tape deck plays. I also get a funtion out of the #6 preset to turn dolby on/off in tape mode, and my CD/AUX button says CD/TAPE. Don't know why the 1CD unit shows controls only used for the CD/tape unit, but don't know why the 1CD unit has a button that says CD/AUX on it either. On the second question, there are audio alchemists here, but I am not one of them.

As an answer to the second question:There's no drop in amp, unless there's one on the 2005 that you can get.If you want any specific information...feel free to IM me through the site..Sorry, i'd give a more detailed description, but my brain is melted from work.

Many cars (Mine included) that have competition level sound systems require that a power line be ran from the battery to the amp/cap/sub. The average size of line is a 4 guage, which is what I'm using at the moment until I upgrade to a 2 gauge. You could upgrade the amp under the seats, but that amp is already being used to power the stock woofers and tweeters. There could also be a problem that an amp large enough to power a sub wouldn't fit under the seat. It's 4:20 in the morn and I've been working since 4 last evening, so I can't really remember the rest of your questions If you need more help/info, I'llbe glad to help as much as I can.
