It appears that there is going to be a huge meet in Michigan in late June. I was wondering if anyone was interested in planning to head down. All of the info is posted in the Michigan forum so check it out and we will see if we can get a convoy together to go.

I'm going and a convoy would be a great idea. I'm probably on the way for you guys just off the 401. I think a few people in MTL are wanting to go could meet up with them to. Anyway lets keep this idea alive as well as our own meet here in Ont

If I could talk those girls from mtl into getting a ride with you down to my place and riding with me to MI (would keep your wife happy hehe) I'd do it. I know they would love to go.

As in the Bruce park up near Tobamory ON?That would be an awsome place to have a meet. Where would we our ontario meet anyway? I don't know if we could get as large a crowd as MI but we still need to have one and not at some remote dealership in some hick town lol. Hey guess that rules out the dealership I work at though this hick town has several large hotels, golf courses, parks and the national cow... And Altus we'd be sure to pick you up on the way by. BTW anyone have any idea what time we'd all sorta leave for MI? I understand the QC folks have a little further to drive then me.

Well since I don't know where the meet is, what would be the quick way? 401 to 402 through to sarnia and cross there?

Re: Michigan Meet (Mavrik)

by trocar
If I am not mistaken, the route would be 401 -402 to Sarnia, then west on I-69 to the I-75 and then south to FentonOr something like thatThen map program that I use says 430km (266 miles)from Toronto So 4-5hours depending on how many stops and who is leading the charge. (3-4 hours if Zedtim is front man.)

You are most correct.... taking the 402 to Sarnia and crossing there is by far the best way to go. The border crossing isn't quite as bad as at Windsor (usually), and there's a great view from the Blue Water bridge. Costs a bit to cross, but it's worth it.I also posted in the big Michigan Meet thread, but I'll post (removed) and say it here too -- how many of us Ontario/Quebec folks have FRS radios? It'd be a great way to stay in contact on the highway....

Can't say I have one of those but would be good if someone leading and someone at the end have a way to communicate. We should plan our stops as well for a stretch and gas up some. Also on the US cross over, we would need to stick together on the other side cause heck if I know where to go lol.Been over the border there before, it is a nice view from the bridge.I saw in the MI thread, about hotels? Yeah I think it would be great if we could all get a block reserved.

I also don't have a FRS radio ( silly question but what is it? ) When the date gets a little closer lets really organize a meeting point and drive down!

Well maybe we'll have to resort to cell phones... all having the leader's number. I'm about an hour... maybe one and a half west of TO for those meeting and leaving there. London is about 30 mins from me on the 401. A good meeting place at Woodstock is just off the 401 on 59 hwy. There is a Wendys and Tim Hortons there, unless you want some gas then there is a truck stop at the next exit we can all meet there. As for london spot, guess the london gang should pick one out.

I've got a pair of the radios that I'll bring along, so at least the leader / tail can stay in contact. In general the radios are a better method to stay in contact - cheaper and easier to use. For anyone else that has them - bring them! And for anyone who doesn't but might be interested in a useful pair of radios - check this out: http://www.futureshop.ca/catal...Dweb1Not bad for $60.As for where to meet here in London - there's a fantastic truck stop/gas station/restaraunt just on the south side of the 401 at Highbury Ave -- the Flying J. Great place to stop and gas up too - gas is always 5 cents / liter cheaper than anywhere else in town.Oh - and dsegundo in this tread : http://forums.genvibe.com/zero...age=5 is starting to arrange getting a block of hotel rooms for folks coming from out-of-town. Seems his g/f is a travel agent....Anyway - he wants folks to PM him so he gets a count of how many are interested and what kind of rooms they want....

Yeah maybe we can just even buy a cheap set of radios that are short range cause we won't be THAT far apart cept at the border. Hey we all driving back together?

Depends on when everyone plans on leaving for the return trip I suppose...If they do manage to book a block of rooms for us at a hotel somewhere, I'll probably take advantage of that.... so won't be starting the return trip until Sunday sometime -- everyone else?

If they do extend the meet for saturday and sunday, could head back late sunday afternoon or monday morning? I already took friday and monday off for that weekend just in case.

i guess it depends on who is taking time off on the friday to go, At best i would be leaving after work friday, but most likely early in the morning on the Saturday.Thoughts....Suggestions...I know it is a long way away yet

I'm planning on heading back on the Sunday for sure as well.I'm up for the Friday night or Saturday morning departure - so that's not a problem.... I estimate it's only about a 2.5 hour drive from here, so it's not bad. Well - that's not counting delays at the border.....My wife said that if we're all travelling in a row, and we all go to the same border window - ya think the guard will stop asking where we're going after the 2nd or 3rd Vibe in a row?

Well I can do either, if its not a long drive, I can handle that for a saturday morning but I do have the friday off just in case. Yeah wonder if they would stop asking us by the 5th car heh.

hey, i've been looking online and not much in fenton or flint really for clubs.... more closer to detroit. the question is do we want to drive 20 min?

maybe we should stay somewhere in between those areas so not that long of a drive if we want to go out fri or sat night.... or both! lol. then would only be 15-20 min drive each way. that's not too bad. just a thought.any one else?

Well I've driven up to 40 mins before to go to a good club cause the little hick town I live in hasn't got a thing but girls at a run down bar that most of the town as been with lol. I don't mind a drive to a club, after all I doubt I'll be drinking so I'll be a DD. JUST NO ONE WILL THROW UP IN MY CAR! That being said, I'm up for a club, bowling, laser tag.

Depending on available time, the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn is awesome (But you need a day to do it justice.) There is also a racing museum in Novi that's supposed to be pretty good....

Guess there Hope we're on our own with the others that want to find a place for a few drinks. Sure 40 mins could be a bit of a drive... and I don't think partying in the hotel for two nights will go over well with the staff. At any rate, I'm up for what ever really, neon bowling is awsome.

Hi Trocar. It's about 60-40 that I'll go, but I wasn't going to post until I was more certain.Mod-wise, I'm kinda in hibernation mode. I guess getting a control cable on my exhaust dump valve, adding a bigger rear bar and slotting the front struts for camber adjustment plus coming up with some kind of CAI (I may hold out until the new AEM design is a available for the Vibe) are about all that's on the horizon for the moment.Anything up with the Motor City crowd?
