Gun metal vs Chrome

I have been looking at several designs of 17" and 18" rims. Personally I am partial to chrome and believe it looks really good on a fusion coloured Vibe. I went to a performance shop in town today and saw an awsome set of gun metal rims with chrome outlining the spokes and around the outer edge.Anyway so now I am almost sold on those $159 17" 5x100 rims. So what are your preferences? Gun metal, chrome or painted? This is what I am looking at currently for chrome rims. This is about as close to the gun metal ones that I saw today.

Personally, I really like the gunmetal rims.IMHO...Chrome wheels don't belong on the Vibe.

go with the gunmetal, 1) it's easier to take care of and 2) not so Bling - Bling

The gunmetal looks bad @ss, the chrome looks ricer boy... which are going for..?

Of the two styles, I like gun-metal better... I really don't think chrome belongs with Vibe at all. However, if you're Vibe is two-tone then gun metal will "blend in" too well that makes your Vibe looks as if it has no tires on.The wheel wells would look like big voids.

on your fusion, i think a polished would look best. i'm not a big gunmetal fan, but the chrome is too ricer/ghetto looking. i think polish is a nice finish, refined and smooth, especially with fusion. but that's just me.

I like the gunmetal with the polished lip. All chrome is way too flashy.

Well you all have been very helpful. I like the chrome but it does cost a lot of bling bling. My Vibe is monotone but if I wanted painted rims, I would just have gone with the painted 16" or 17" rims the Vibe comes with. I'm not into turning my Vibe into a ricer boy car but I do want it to look good. But I believe the gunmetal with chrome outline will look bad (removed) tough on the fusion Vibe. They also only cost $159 a rim and about $99 for tires. So I'm sold on them, come spring I'll be showing you all my new wheels

Polished-lip wheels are gonna look smaller than they actually. And chrome=HEAVY!Just a couple of things to keep in mind!

So now that I am settled on Gun metal rims, my next question is. Any good brands I should look for or bad brands I should stay away from? I don't want to buy a rim and have it all bent outta shape from a silly little pot hole.

I really like Enkei or Konig for cheaper high quailty rims, but if you got the cash i would go for Racing Hart or OZ Racing

For the Vibe go with gunmetal. Now if it was an SUV chrome would be better.

Well I am definatly going gun metal, thanks everyone for the opinions. I'll have to check out those brands but anyone know anything bad or good about those MSR rims I showed?

Im going for gunmetal myself, or Anthracite (Enkei's equivalent). Either Falken Circuit Spec's or Enkei DM5's...the Falkens are cheaper, but can't find them in any local tire outlet, meaning I'd have to order them from out of state. No probs, but I like America's Tires (Discount Tire) lifetime repair/replacement damage warranty, along with lifetime balancing and rotations.Bleh, decisions decisions..

A few people are recommending I go with Enkei rims but the closest match they have to what I like are these... Enkei RSF-2 They don't have the chrome lip I want though... and they are going for $238(?) US I think... the MSR ones above I can get for $159 canadian...

I never really liked dark wheels, so the gunmetal isn't really my thing. I like the wheels on a car to make it stand out a bit, so I'm a chrome fan. I'm not after some wacky design that makes it scream "ricer", but a traditional-type of wheel finished in chrome is my preference. I think that huge chrome crazy wheels on SUV's look ghetto.

http://www.tirerack.com for the first two and
http://www.tiretrends.com for the other one. I don't see how the pic link is broken, I see them fine... Ah well. But thats where I got the pics from. Tire rack will actually show you a pic of your car with the rims you selected.I wasn't into gunmetal till I saw that one pair of rims at a performance shop. I think the chrome gunmetal blend was nice and I have not been able to find a chrome style I really liked. Looks like majority rules lol, I'm going gunmetal.
