Well some of you might remember that a few months ago while I was backing out of my garage, I didn't notice that the door stopped before it opened all the way up.http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=5967What happened was that the antenna got caught on the bottom of the garage door and bent forward until the top of the antenna base snapped off and dented the roof.Being the procrastinator that I am I haven't done much yet, but since I already bought a replacement antenna base part #88971569 I decided to do some research on how best to get the dent on the roof repaired.First option was pretty standard. Most body shops would sand, fill and repaint the roof for roughly $200CAN.However there is another option I recently found out about which is known as PDR, or Paintless Dent Removal. The process basically uses a series of tools to massage the metal from behind the dent back to it's original shape all without repainting the finish or adding fillers. Usually it can be done within an hour or less depending on the size of the dent.I got an estimate from a local place http://www.dentsunlimited.com/about.html for about $100-150CAN and I will be taking it there later this week.To save on the cost of labor I removed the headliner myself with the fantastic instructons provided by VibeForWinter: http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=4600I gotta say I'm surprised at all the stuff that goes underneath all the covers on the interior of my Vibe. It'll definately be unusual to drive my car with so much of the innards exposed. In anycase I'll be taking some pictures of some before and after the dent repair surface to let you guys see how it goes.
