Advice Needed About Bike Racks

So far I have been transporting my mountain bike inside (actually a pretty nice way), but if I bring someone else along I need to use an exterior rack. I have my old tried and true Thule trunk rack and am even able to attach it to the back, but then I can't open the tailgate. What I am looking for is anyone with experience with a Vibe car top or folding trailer hitch carrier. I have tried the search option with no success. One of the Vibe write ups claimed Pontiac sells a bike rack."Pontiac also offers a net system for the cargo area and various bicycle or ski racks for the roof". Any info on these will be appreciated. Thanks

barecrafters makes a bike rack that will fit on the existing rails of the vibe cargo rack. check their website. I am also a dealer of barecraft accesories so if you have no luck locating them or finding what you need I would be glad to help.

Another option is to get a trailer hitch and then a bike rack for that. Thats what I did because there's NO way I'm tring to put a bile ontop of the Vibe. I'm too short. LOL

I have a Thule Roof Rack and works like a charm - No problems here!Well, actually I do have problems lifting the hatch when the bike are on, but if I know I am going to be going in the hatch then I just put my bike on backwards.

I use the yak rack system and put the bike trays on backwards. That way I can open the hatch with no problems.

Hey thanks for the info, appears that the roof rack is stronger than I thought.
