How bouncy is your vibe?

My folks have moved into a retirement home that recently has become fond of speed bumps on their property. I guess those old folks were zipping around too fast for their own good. Anyway, my Vibe is having to cross 4 to eight bumps each time I visit. I'm getting a good sense of how stiff the suspension is and how light the car is. No matter how fast I hit or crawl over those bumps, the car lifts up quite a bit. I also own a Nissan Altima and a Nissan pickup, and neither of those feel so bouncy going over the speed bumps. Now I love how well the Vibe corners, and the zest of the ride in normal driving. The suspension and wheels seems "tuned" for this sporty ride. I'm curious, though. Do each of you feel like your vibe is bouncier than other cars you've driven?KSNeptune

I feel my GT is a litle choppy or bouncy, Espcially here in New Englad with the frost heaves and pot holes. But, I love the way it corners for it's height, the trade off we have to live with I guess

I find my Vibe GT is very bouncy over small bumps, making the wheels jump up and break traction on some bumpy and bad intersections (this is during acceleration off a green light) My other (older) cars dont do this at all.

KSNeptune put lowering springs on and you'll really love how it handles.as for the ride, well you have to make some sacrifices, stiff ride not bouncey

Hiya...Yeah, I'd have to say stiff, firm.... not bouncy... Bouncy makes me think of an old Buick sedan with shot shocks. Bounce implies something like a ball where you have the initial bump then a repeating decaying aftershock. The ride is firm.. The suspension is obviously not for comfort.Had the same issues with speed bumps while in Myrtle Beach last Summer. An apartment complex where I was staying had a speed bump at every intersection for Golf Carts and throughout the parking lots as well. I could go slow and experience the entire speed bump or go a little faster and hear it. Love the suspension... I don't think a softer suspension would feel right at all...Dave

i get a real weird floaty feel when i am cornering fast and hit a bump, it's kind of neato! this car is far better than anyone elses car i've ridden in when it comes to all the railroad tracks this town has to offer. (only 1 way to get out w/out hitting rr tracks)

Has anyone thought about putting suspension airbags on the car? I read in an article about air bags for a Suburu WRX that has 3 settings something like norman, sport and race or something. Anyone used airbags on their vehicle?

no one that i know of has done that. i did see online that there is a kit for the vibe/matrix that will lower or raise your suspension but it was like $2K for it.... too spendy for my tastes, but sure would be nice to have them!
