I spoke with Mr. Martin today and he's looking for anyone with a Vibe in Southern CA to fit his exhaust on. You'll be looking at a discount in price and I'm sure he'd be willing to work something else out for your time if your truely interested. quote:We are offering the first 10 Exhausts to enthusiasts on your board and others for $350.00. This is a substantial discount off the $495 list price. The system is 100% Stainless Steel, Mandrel bent. It is designed to bolt up to the base model and XR Matrix 2 WD models as a rear section. The list price is $495.00. It will ship UPS anywhere in the Continental US for $40.00. It bolts in in ten minutes using all factory hangers, exhaust seal, and hardware. It sounds very, very nice and deep. The muffler and tip are polished and the pipe is polished before bending, so the overall effect is a very nice looking unit. The system is specially designed to accept the Toyota exhaust seal and retain the flex capabilities as designed by Toyota. It is built to remain within Toyota factory guidelines as a factory warranteed part. It has been designed and tested to remain under federal and Caifornia state noise limits. We are still planning our dyno session for the very near future, whichyou and any forum member will be invited to. You will be able to testand out and purchase/pick up a system at the event. As we get closer to getting the systems ready for delivery, we will inform you so you can plan to attend. Thanks and best regards,George Martin(949)
854-6215georgemartindesign@juno.comHere is what Eng. George Martin Design wrote about the exhaust system for the Matrix/Vibe.quote: Whats the differents BTWN GMD and TRD? More horse Power, Quicker trottle response, and a Deep powerful sound, and one more Da Looks. This is the 2nd day - and I'm loving it....I stop by @ Auto Pann--and guys inside went outside to see what came in the lot. I can't hold my smile of cheerfulness when they all looked. Let me try to clear the air on what we are doing and the parameters we need to abide by: 1) We were approached by Marketing officials to produce products for several Toyota vehicles. 2) The products need to meet strict warranty guidelines so that they may be sold at Toyota dealerships on brand new vehicles on the showroom floor, and a) not cause any problems with the factory warranty, and b) be covered under the same warranty guidelines as an original factory part. This means that you can take your Matrix into Toyota after 1094 days of carefree driving and complain about a rattling sound in the exhaust system and have it replaced free of charge, no questions asked (if indeed you bought the car with the muffler installed. ) 3) If you buy the exhaust at the dealership parts department and install it yourself or have them install it, it needs to be covered for at least a year against the same factory warranty guidelines. 4) Since installing any catback system on the matrix as it is produced now means cutting and welding an entire rear section in, logistically it would be impossible to maintain the quality standard that the warranty guidelines stipulate. 5) As far as pricing is concerned, the structure was set with current industry trends in mind, and we consider it in line with such products as a $650 catback system from Greddy or HKS for a similar vehicle, even after you subtract $155 for the front pipe. The mufflers we are using are equal to or better than these products, in fit, function, sound quality, and aesthetics. 6) If anyone needs help constructing a front section to complete a catback system for your car, I would be happy to offer any assistance to you in regards to industry contacts, pipe diameters, pipe suppliers, front silencer applications, or any other questions you would have. Again I appreciate the feedback, so keep it coming! George Martin George Martin Design
georgemartindesign@juno.comThis is a quote from another site from a owner of a Matrix who has had the exhaust installed.quote:The exhaust is made w/ 100% T304 Stainless steel, very beautiful and perfect fit. Engineered by George Martin Design(SeBring Tuning) to fit perfectly w/out changing anything underneath using original hinge. After installing the Exhaust System and I started the engine--You could feel the deep powerful sound right away. Than took it for a test drive, people left and right in Irvine were looking at my Matrix....what can I say...... I felt the power right away it has a quicker throttle response. My friend is right about the breathing theory "more air in CAI and more air out Exhaust" Need picture e-mail me

I haven't heard it personally but from what people who have heard it say it's the best exhaust they have ever heard on a 4 cylinder engine. It's got a very low grawl instead of the high pitch loud bug buzzing in your ear sound I hear alot around here where I am at.Quote from a owner of the exhaustquote:Whats the differents BTWN SeBrings and TRD? More horse Power, Quicker trottle response, and a Deep powerful sound, and one more Da Looks. This is the 2nd day - and I'm loving it....I stop by @ Auto Pann--and guys inside went outside to see what came in the lot. I can't hold my smile of cheerfulness when they all looked. quote:Hi, and thanks for your interest. Here is a pic of the system, hopefully you can see it but I'm having trouble posting it! If you can't see it I'll be happy to email it to you. It follows exactly the same path as the stock system but it is only a rear section. The reason we did it this way was because Toyota made the stock system in one piece from the catalytic converters back to the rear of the car. If we cut the stock exhaust behind the cats, we can install the rest of the system, but our experience is that most customers want a bolt-in, bolt-out system so this is the only way to do it. Secondly, the only real restrictive parts of the stock system are the multiple bends in the rear system and the restrictive muffler design. As you can see, we've shortened the overall pipe length, reduced the number and complexity of the bends, and installed just about the least restrictive muffler one could possibly use at the extreme end of the pipe. The muffler design itself is revolutionary because it gives maximum flow while acoustically reflecting sound waves back inside with its unique convex-shaped silencer tip (which is of course removable.) The result is a deep, throaty, big-bore superbike type sound that sounds solid even through redline and during deceleration. We've done sound tests and the peak is only 65 dB. The company is called George Martin Design. We were contacted by Toyota to produce parts for the Matrix and Corrolla models. We're working on some other parts which will be sold through the Toyota dealerships on new cars and in the Parts Departments. I'll give you more information as it becomes available. Thanks very much again for your interest and we hope to hear from you soon. George Martin George Martin Design

Here's a update from GMDquote:Hi Derek,Just a word to update you on our progress. The exhausts will be ready onThursday, and I'm planning to pick them up before the weekend. I shouldbe able to ship them out either Friday or early next week. When I havethem in my hands here, I'll book the dyno session so everyone that wantsto attend will be able to plan for it. Thanks again to you and your forum memebers for your interest, andespecially your patience. As I've stated before, our focus has beenprimarily on designing parts to fit the base and XR, for sale in thefactory showrooms and in the parts departments, and we're really not setup to sell to the public, on the internet or elsewhere. We came to theforums to get ideas from the members and test our products with them, sowe're rewarding them with access to the parts before the general publicsees them and at wholesale prices. The systems were designed for sale atToyota dealerships on factory new vehicles, and were designed to bestreet legal and meet all warranty guidelines, as well as state andfederal noise limitations. They will be selling at Toyota for $495. Weare offering the first 10 off the line to the Forum members at theintroductory price of $350 plus $40 shipping. After these are gone, theywill not be sold again at this price. Thanks and best regards,George MartinGeorge Martin Design(949) 854-6215

Quote »Hello Derek,Enclosed are some Windows Media Files of the sound of our exhaust systemon an XR and XRS model Matrix, which I recorded today. There are tworecordings made from the interior as each of the cars were driven, andtwo from the rear about a foot diagonally away from the rear of themuffler as the cars were running, just like the DOT testing procedure, only a lot closer to the tip so we could get a good recording. The XR isan Automatic transmission car with no modifications. The XRS is a5-speed with an Injen CAI. The exhaust used was our Matrix base/XR/Vibesystem. Since the exhaust fits on the XR perfectly, the sound is exactlywhat you'll hear on any stock X, XR, or Vibe model. The system will fitthe XRS or Vibe GT perfectly except for the mounting flange, which we aregoing to have to make a bit larger. Using zip-ties I was able to installit for a test, but I believe the loose fit caused it to leak which madeit a bit louder than it would be if it was bolted up. Please feel freeto post these on your site as you see fit. As soon as we have themodifications done to the XRS/GT exhaust and it's ready to ship we'llinform you. Thanks and best regards,George MartinGeorge Martin DesignHere are the GMD exhaust sound clips:
http://www.genvibe.com/images/misc/foru ... _2.wavThey are in .WAV format... should be compatible for most people. If not, let me know and I can accommodate you.
