Ebrake Loose?

Has anyone been noticing that if you pull the ebrake up that it doesn't actually grab until about 3/4 the way up? Which makes me think if you actually needed it if your brakes failed would it stop you fast enough or hold your car when its parked on a hill?

Supposedly, the rear disk brakes on the GT need to have the ebrake pulled harder than on the models with rear drum brakes. Check out http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=6226. You should probably test the parking brake on a hill to see it if really will hold the car, and if not, get it adjusted.

As joatmon stated, try to find a hill, apply ebrake, shift to neutral, see if the car slips. If it does, get it checked. If not, you're fine.

THANKS GUYS!! I want it to grab tight enough that if I wanted to I could do an ebrake slide. I would never do that to my GT but I want it to hold that strong and it's no where near that right now.

Just an FYI The e-brake is really easy to tighten. All you do is take out the center console with a total of 4 bolts (2 front & 2 inside the deep part of the console). There is a bolt on the side of the e-brake assembly with a lock bolt on it. remove the first lock bolt and tighten the second one (make sure not to tighten to much, it will cause your rear brakes to grab constantly causing lower gas milage and pre-mature brake wear). Any questions drop me an im or im me at singlestrokes on aim.-Brady
