8.8 with a base/auto Vibe? With what were you measuring that time?

At Commerce, GA...Atlanta Dragway on a Friday Grudge night.I removed all items from storage...spare, etc., removed passenger seat as well. I was working on some wiring and thought that it would be a good time to do some racing since I had it ripped apart.

Since when do drag strips measure 0-60 times? Every dragstrip I've been to measures 60' times (the time it takes to get to 60-feet, not 60-mph).

Not sure but I can post a pic of the time slip that has 0-60 mph time on it though. Also has the 60' time there too.Well, I just looked at my time slips from last year when I took my '73 Chevrolet Truck over there and it did not have the time on it. I also found some of my slips from earlier this year when I raced my Dakota R/T and it has it on there too. They must have added it this year according to the slips.

I am not sure how they do it, I will ask the guy the next time I am over there. My last run was a 16.798 with a reaction time of .562.

That sounds about right. My 0-60 times are 9.1 to your 8.8 for a .3 difference. My ET's have been 17.1 to your 16.8 for an identical .3 difference. The weight you removed helped your initial launch buy .3 seconds but then there was no change for the rest of the 1/4 mile.

I am going to try and take it to the 1/8th mile track this weekend hopefully. If I do, I will post my times on Monday. The times will be with everything in the car this time.

Woo hoo! All this talk about 0-60 times and ET's got me pumped up to go a little G-Teching on the way home from work today. Beautiful weather and a relatively cool 78-deg temp (compared to the 85+ temps from all my other G-Tech runs) got me my my best times ever and the 16 sec ET I wanted.0-60 dropped from a 9.1 to 8.9 and my best ET dropped from 17.05 @ 87 to a 16.80 @ 87.6

Pretty sweet, it doesn't look like I am going to be able to get to the track tonight though because it is raining here this morning but I am not going to complain because we really need it...maybe next friday.

Well, if I EVER get some free time in the next couple days, I plan on taking my Gtech out in my base 5-speed to see what it comes up with. I'll post what it gets.Later,Carl

More G-Tech numbers. Last night it was 75 degrees out and I had to make a few G-Tech runs. New personal best:16.67 @ 87.6 and 0-60 in 8.76The Vibe sure likes the cooler weather. The fact that the gas tank only was about 1/4 full probably helped too.

Have you installed a CAI on it yet? I wouldn't be surprised if you hit 8.6 sec 0 to 60 times then. Maybe a 8.5 is in the near future.

Wish I had known this awhile back. I waited cuz Consumer Reports ays the base with auto trans is over 11.5 seconds to 60 mph! I just couldn't bring myself to buy a SLUG this slow. But I just kept looking and looking, finally gave in. Mine is the base Vibe with auto tranny.... Mike

The above picture is not a true CAI. Now realize there is nothing wrong with a short ram but the main reason for installing a CAI is so you can suck in the cooler more dense air from outside the engine bay resulting in better cylinder volume when filling the cylinders resulting in more HP.A short ram will help some but nothing like a true Cold Air Intake. This link should help out anyone wanting to make there own unit.Click Here
