From NADA headlines: Silver is Most Popular Auto Color ["Silver Bells" is a popular song this time of year, but if there were a year-round ditty about vehicle colors it might be called "Silver Cars." Amid the growing popularity of chrome and stainless steel in designs for everything from toaster ovens to wall clocks to furniture, silver is the most popular vehicle color in North America, according to separate surveys by auto paint suppliers DuPont Automotive and PPG Automotive. "Silver has always been a color of opulence, but most keen in the psyche of consumers today is that it represents technology and modernism," said Lorene Boettcher, manager of global design and color marketing for PPG Automotive. "If you look back at the '50s, silver was popular then as well." Silver was the color of choice for 24 percent of 2003 model year vehicles in PPG's recent report and 20.2 percent in DuPont's. White placed second in both studies, followed by red in the PPG survey and black for DuPont. "Silver does accentuate the design of a car," said Robert Daily, color marketing manager for DuPont Automotive in Troy. "If you look at the cars at the auto show, many of the exhibits are done in silver." Blue, for example, checked in with 11 percent in the PPG study and 8.5 percent in the DuPont report. "I think blue is going to make some major inroads in the next three or four years," Daily said. "I also see red continuing to increase. Overall, I think we're going to see generally brighter colors or colors with more chroma or liveliness to them." /I]

I have a silver vibe. It is kind of boring, since there are so many silver vehicles around. Sort of the absence of color. Still, it hides the dirt and road grime really well. In a vibe, it looks good both monotone and two tone. I ended up with a satellite vibe because it was the best options match for what I wanted out of dealer stock, but have no regrets on the color.According to http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=6023, satellite is the most common Vibe color. Also according to http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/Arti...iTech, silver cars are safest.http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=4725 is a " What's your Vibes color?" poll.

checked http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=6475, and still only 64 votes so far, but for paint durability, looks like you want to stay away from the color "salsa"

And as for durability, until someone proves me wrong, I'll continue to say the Fusion's are painted better

The most they would give me as 13K for a trade-in. Soooo......I'm still driving my base vibe.

For anyone who was following the saga of my g/f's car decision, she finally bought a new '04 Acura RSX. And it's silver. I usually don't like silver on cars, but the silver color of the RSX is very nice, I was surprised. I think it has more metalflake in it than most silver colors, so it looks brighter and sharper. Usually most silvers look like a shade of dressed up grey.Nice to see that they are predicting an increase in the popularity of blue on cars in the near future. I'm a little bit ahead of the times I guess .
