Got a great deal off my 2004 base Vibe (with Sports Package) thanks to many rebates/incentives, 0% financing and some extra negotiating Bought it at Contact Pontiac in Laval, and had a great time with salesman Jose. He put no sales pressure and knows his stuff. Definitely recommended for Montrealers who are looking for any Pontiac/Buick. Tell him George sent you! After 2 days of driving, this truly is a great ride. Built quality is worth every penny. Thank you Toyota & GM - I would like to know from other Vibe owners how hard to you have to close the hatch door? Personally it seems I have to slam it pretty hard or it won't stay closed. It didn't seem so hard the first day, so I'm wondering if I should bring it in to have it ajusted.- How about rust protection? I live in Montreal, Qc and with our winters and salts and it is a must. What method do you recommend?

Maybe this is why it didn't seem so hard the first day but did the next time? Last year when it was -30 outside, I couldn't get the hatch to latch completely at all. Otherwise when its warmer, mine tends to close normally (or what I consider normal).Welcome to Genvibe by the way!

Welcome to Genvibe. As far as the rusting thing goes you need to get that salt off as best as possible with trips to the carwash for an underbody flush and a good wash job on those nice days that are probably few and far between in Canada. I had the protection package put on my car, probably a waste of money, with a rustproofing, undercoat, and paint protection. It is pretty pricey, I had it mixed in with my payments to make it look a little better, but I had to do whatever it took to make sure my car looks good for as long as possible. And a good wax job now and then never hurts either. Hope that helps.

Hi there fellow Montreal Viber Welcome to Genvibe!Don't worry about the hatch, like Sputnik said it is tough in the winter time and you will get used to it.I hope you will be able to post some pics of your ride and if you ever need any help look for me here, I live in Lasalle and I am in the Laval area often! As for the rust protection, I always go to Metropolitian to have the car rust proofed!

DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT use anything to rustproof any vehicle, except 'KROWN' or 'RUST CHECK'. Everything else is more harmful than good. Oil traps water, undercoating traps moisture. KROWN is a once yearly application for about $120.00 Canadian. Apply it yearly and your car cannot and will not ever rust.

Krown is definitely the best there is. $109.95 yearly and if done when new your car is guaranteed not to rust, ever.

For once I have to agree with you Krown is also known to be one of the best rust proofing out there. In Montreal you can go to any OK Tire dealer and they have it.

Thank you all for your responses! Much appreciated. So bringing in the car to the dealer won't really help the hatch I suppose. I figured using a different kind of grease/oil could make it close more smoothly. It's only around -5 right now and I really have to slam it with some strength to properly close it.ArcsVibe, I also used to go to Metropolitain with my other wheels, do you think Krowne is that much better than them? There doesn't seem to be any OK Tire dealer in Laval & North Shore, I only found one in Verdun...Thanks!

I went to that one in Verdun for my winter tires ( good deal by the way! ) and I saw the pamphlet for Krown. I asked the guys there and they told me it is by far the best way to rust proof the car. Maybe next year my Vibe will get treated.Metropolitian is also very good, did my 4 cars there and never had a problem with rust.

Is that available in the states? I'd be interested in doing the Krown rustproofing. If not, I do live in Maine and could always drive up to the Quebec area.
