I've had Google's toolbar installed in my I.E. for quite some time and found it very handy.I put together a computer recently for my younger brother and while installing the usual plugins, etc I went ahead and installed the Google toolbar on his. I noticed it now has a popup blocker!!!!! I un-installed the old toolbar on mine, and installed the new one. The popup blocker works great!!! It's default is to block all popups, but if you go to a site that you want popups, like Genvibe so you can get i.m.'s, all you do is click the "popup" area on the toolbar, and it changes to "site popups allowed", and it remembers this setting on genvibe.com, so every time I go to Genvibe, it changes to allowing popups.Highly recommended.http://toolbar.google.com/When installing it, you have the option of installing "with advanced features", or "without advanced features" (or something like that),I chose "without". If you choose "with", it keeps track of your searches, etc and sends them to google to personalize your searches. Sounds too much like spyware to me, so I chose "without".

I downloaded it too, and it has been very good. I was getting a really nasty porn pop up when using hotmail... haven't seen it since. Also, although I'm not a fan of the format of googles search results, I've found my self using it more & more because I'm getting "bumped" to some "unknown domain" site when I try to use the IE address bar as my search engine.

OK, the Google pop-up blocker isnt working so good anymore. Anybody have any other ideas, tips & techniques?I'm running IE6 on WinXP Home.Interestingly, I go to all the same sites at work, and don't get any popups. There, I'm running IE6 on Win2K Pro.

Maybe you've got spyware installed? This just happened to my friend - they had TONS of pop ups non stop. They ran spy something or other which got rid of some of the spyware then ran Adaware which got rid of another 300 things, but everytime they log on, there's more.

I downloaded Adaware & ran a scan. It came up with 91 objects, including a bunch of browser hijackings. Those things annoy me, so I'll be glad to see them go. I'll keep an eye on it over the next few days and see if that did the trick. Thanks for the suggestion, Sputnik!
