Does anyone's rear hatch (not glass) lock/unlock with remote...

Hi All,I've had my base vibe (Power Package, ABS, 17" Wheels) for about 2 weeks, and have just discovered that for ALL that time I had been driving around with my tailgate unlocked!!!!!!!!!!! Is it an issue with my Vibe missing a solenoid on the rear lock, or is it a common problem? If it is a common problem, how many people would be interested in getting together to research a add-on lock kit to add this vital feature.Regards,PJE

My rear hatch locks and unlocks with the remote just fine. Maybe just an isolated issue as I have not seen/nor heard of anyone on this board or other related boards with this problem.Have you taken the vehicle into the dealer for warranty repair yet?BTW, as I have read (by millster), you do have the Power Package, right?

The rear hatch (not glass) unlocks with the key fob however, you have tto push the button twice. If you push the button once, it only unlocks the driver door. Push the button twice and it unlocks all the doors including the hatch. The glass unlocks with the hatch button on the fob but you have to hold the button down for about 2 or 3 seconds.

Hi,It looks like my Vibe has a warranty claim in it's future...From the keyfob:Lock - Locks all doors (except tailgate - glass OK)Unlock (First Press) - Unlocks drivers doorUnlock (Second Press) - Unlocks other doors except tailgate Hatch (Hold 2 sec) - Rear glass pops open. From this it would seem that the solenoid in the tailgate (or the electrical signal to it) is missing... I can';t hear any actuator in the tailgate when the doors unlock/lock, so a solenoid linkage problem seems unlikely.Regards,PJE

When you take it in for repair, let us know the result in case other members in the future encounter this problem.Best of luck.

What about the power lock/unlock button on the driver door? Does that have any effect on the tailgate? Or is the key the only way to lock/unlock the tailgate? My guess is either the solenoid is bad or the connector wasn't connected properly. Take it back.

Hi Scott,The tailgate lock only operates with the key... a bad connection/solenoid seems the most likely cause as it's more likely than them forgetting to put on a component!I'll call in at the dealership this lunchtime and see if they can fins the problem.Regards,PJE

Hi All,Just a quick note to say that the lock is now fixed The problem seems to be that the wiring wasn't connected...If anyone else has the power package and the rear lock (not glass) doesn't operate, I'd recommend a quick warrenty repair.Regards,PJE

Hello everyone,I am new and in need of help. I brought my Vibe in for warranty service cause of this thread. I am having this problem with my hatch not unlocking with my doors. I have brought my Vibe in 3 times already. The first time, the service advisor told me that there is a problem with the hatch actuator so one would have to be ordered. So the part arrived and I brought the car back in. The problem still wasn't fixed cause they said they ordered the wrong part so the right one would have to be reordered. I was fine with that so last week they finally got the part and today I brought it in. I went to go pick my Vibe up but to my disappointment it still wasn't fixed. This time the service manager told me that my Vibe did not come with a power hatch even though I have the power package. I told him about this thread and also that I know Matrix owners whose hatch opens with the door locks but he was insistent that my Vibe did not come with this option also pointing out that the Matrix is a different car. I am frustrated and running out of patience because I think my car should have this. Can as many users reply to this to verify whether my Vibe should have this or not? My car was manufactured on June 2003 and the service manager is saying this option did not become available until after this date. Who is right??????

Mine was built in 8/02 and has power everything.Power has been an option since inception.Get a new service dealer. This guys is making up more excuses to get you to go away. Give him what he wants -- go away. Go to a dealer who gives a damn about their customers.

Hi,My car is now a year old... the rear hatch NOW locks/unlocks with the rest of the doors after my rear solenoid was reconnected by my dealer.I'd print out this thread and show it to the service manager. If he's unconvinced asked to see the owner of the dealership and tell him. There's nothing that get's a service manager moving more than showing him/her to be incompetant to his boss!Hope you get this problem resolved without needing the lemon laws!Regards,PJE

I bought my Vibe on last November and the tail gate always had the lock/unlock feature working with the remote.Your dealer gave you a bunch of crap.

Have him walk with you to a Vibe on the lot and so he can try to prove what he says is true. My rear hatch always unlocks with all the doors if I press unlock twice.Later,

Thanks for this thread guys. My wife was complaining to me that the rear hatch glass was not working with the remote. After reading here I showed her to hold it down and Boom Bang looky there it works.

I don't have remote yet so....... the rear hatch only unlocks with key in the door twice.. The annoying thing is the hatch does not unlock w/ key in the hatch lock. The hatch lock only pops the rear glass and not the hatch. I wish you could push the key "in" to pop the glass but turn the key to open the full hatch.....

I am glad every one is getting it working. I worry that mine might go out, cause it is a loud and noticable when the locks on the hatch release. but it's been that way since I bought it, so I guess it's ok
