Stolen Vibe attempt

Well. So far I've been the one of the first VIBE owners to try mods and new ideas for the VIBE. I think I am now one of the first owners that had his VIBE broken into. Here's the details:I was parked on the street Labor Day night. I came out to go to work Tue morning and MY VIBE WAS A WRECK. The Thief or thiefs tried to pop my lock but they were unsucessful (must be very strong locks) So they broke the rear passenger window and got in that way. I assume when they got in the car they saw my auto lock on my brake pedal Because the steering column was untouched by my Autolock was somewhat tampered with. Since they couldn't steal it They took all of the stereo equipment. Just ripped it all out. Don't worry guys It's all ok now. I've already got the glass and radio replaced and I'm just waiting on the dealer to "bump out" my passenger doors from the break in. I've taken many before and after pics so I will posted them for all to see. THANK GOD FOR INSURANCE!!!!!!!!!

Man, that really bites! Do you have any type of security system on your Vibe? At least they didn't get to actually take the Vibe... which is good.Hope to see you back up and running soon and with as little difficulty as possible!

I'd also like to know if you have a security system. i am considering adding the theft protection package - audible alarm and fuel shutoff, plus it comes with the flashing red light on the right side of the steering column. Not too sure if that would be a deterrant though. Considering asking the young offenders I work with!!!

Have these young offenders ever told you how they defeat the ignition switch? I would hope that the 2003 cars are harder to steal so they would leave them alone. I was thinking a hidden fuel cutoff would be good, but I think with the new fuel injection systems, that thinking doesn't apply anymore.

Campbell,They use different methods depending on the make/model. The Vibe apparently has the option of a fuel shutoff with the Theft protection package.

Not to far from Ferndale. A side street along Woodward Ave. between Woodward and Second Blvd. My VIBE should be "fully restored" by today or tommorrow

I would have to say that is one of the fastest recovery efforts I have ever seen. I know people that waited ages with their Insurance Company before ever seeing and money or progress.Glad to see you are back to normal again!
