I'm looking into moving to phoenix for school and a new place to live. I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on places to live in the area seeing is that I am from michigan I don't know the area. Also, I am a bodyman and would like to work at a GM dealership with a collision center. One more thing, the school I'm considering is UTI and just curious if anyone has input on this school. Thanks in advance for the advice.

I know it's been awhile since you posted this. If you're still interested here's my two cents: I've lived here 8 years now, East Phoenix seems to be a pretty decent place to live. Scottsdale is too expensive and everyone acts like their Sh@t doesn't stink. As a bodyman you will find a lot of work here since accidents are way to common. Crime is also very bad in the entire valley. No one knows how to drive in this town. I've only heard good things about UTI. As for a place to live I can't bear the thought of another summer. You have to live for about six months straight without turning off the A/C. At midnight in August it's still 104. Good luck with your decision.

I've been told Pheonix heat isn't as hard to endure as say, Jersey heat, because we get the 100% humidity problem, whereas Phoenix doesn't get much, if any humidity.Would you agree with this? J/c...

I grew up in Ct so I know what hell the humidity can be. 90 degrees here is certainly much better than 90 back east. But once you get passed 105, dry doesn't really matter. Last summer we went between 15-30 days of continuous above 110 temps for a high. Those are the days when you get out to your car at 7:00am and it's 95 degrees.

Hey thx, for the posts. I haven't checked here in a while cuz nobody responded, but now I see someone has. I've been looking into moving to Glendale, what can you say about that area?

Hey Devlop; I have lived in Glendale from 81-99, then moved to a small town 50 miles NW of Phoenix. We can always use more people from the midwest here, they seem to be the freindlyest. You should have no problem at all getting a job in a bodyshop, that business is booming thanks to the retirement cities and the winter time "Snowbird" drivers. The first 10 summers I spent here I swore I would move, but the winters make up for it. Sorry I never heard of UTI. Most parts of Glendale are really nice, the farther north the better is a good thumb rule. E-mail me if you have specific questions or if I can help in any other way.

Thx for the offer. I will definetly email when I have questions. I plan on moving hopefully in April. Just depends on how soon I can sell my place. When I get close to having it sold, I plan on flying out there to check out some apts and jobs. I've been doing some searching for apts and am going to have some picked out to check out when I fly out there. I also am going to contact some shops to set up interviews for the same time. Hopefully I will be able to have everything sorted out so that when I fly back I will be ready to move. Lot of work, but should be worth it.

Hey Devlop;A UTI Representive just came to our High School a couple weeks ago, and it is located in Glendale, at least I think so. Um as for GM dealerships there are a slew in Glendale, and I think there is a Sands Chevrolet on Grand and something not too sure, that's where my vibe was repaired after my accident. Yeah, all the info you guys are giving me helps a lot. I really appreciate it. Makes moving out there a little easier, especially since I'm moving alone.
