stupid teeth

So I finally got my first cavity when I went to the dentist yesterday. I keep pretty good care of my teeth, so 22 years without any cavities is pretty good. My dentist did a really good job making sure I didn't feel anything when he drilled and filled my tooth, so I don't know why people are so afraid of the dentist, but maybe some people aren't as careful as my dentist. Plus, he talks to you the whole time while he's working, which kinda takes your mind off of the drilling in your mouth. For those of you with fillings out there, does the annoyance of the filling ever go away? So far, for day 2, it still feels like I just ate, and I have food stuck in my tooth. Kinda like eating a hard piece of candy or taffy that gets stuck in there.Oh well, I guess I can't complain, I've never had braces, and I've only got 1 cavity... I Also don't have any wisdom teeth to worry about because only one grew in, and I had that pulled with no problems (i even ate a cheeseburger for dinner that night)

I've had lots of dental/orthodontic work done over the years so far. I can tell you that, yes, you'll get used to it and never really notice it again after a while. Usually within a week or two. I have several fillings (I was born with a condition where I have thin enamel on my teeth), and I know exactly what you are feeling. The more dental work you have done, the faster you get used to the new things in your mouth.

I have a permanent retainer that runs across the inside of my lower teeth, and it drove me batty for about 3 days, but now I've had it for 6 years and don't even notice it anymore.

Maybe the upgraded software doesn't know it's own name/address, and there is a safeguard to keep people from linking to genvibe pictures from outside sites.Glad that's "not me" either.Teeth. Leave them alone and they'll leave you alone. I like going to the eye doctor better than the dentist. The eye doctor never loads you up with guilt about how you haven't been flossing properly.

Sorry Kari, meant that for Pablo. 3 years though? Ow better than those who wear them for 5 or 6 though. I had mine 1 1/2 and my Orthodontist was the biggest @$Shole I'd ever met.

Well, see, they told me 1.5 too. I think that's what they tell everybody. Then when it hit 3 years and my teeth had not substantially changed in about 1 year of that, I decided to ask when I would be looking at getting them off. They made the appointment that day, and I got them off the next month. Haha. I think they were just trying to ride it out... They actually messed up my teeth somewhat. I had to have a molar pulled so the rest would supposedly "shift around" because my teeth are a little off-center on my jaw. Well they didn't shift. And then the molar below it on the bottom grew up into the hole, and the wisdom tooth that was supposed to fill in the hole left by the one they pulled grew in, and now the bottom one sticks way up and the wisdom tooth can't come all the way in and it hurts occasionally, like it's trying to come in and can't.

I had braces for 5 years. I got them on in 7th grade and they didn't take them off until a week before I went to college and they made my mom sign something saying that we chose to end the treatment. I refused to go to college with braces. I think I was a victim of full insurance coverage. We had to go to this one place where there was a new orthodontist every couple months. I swear it had to be some sort of training place and they just milked insurance companies. I had that permanent retainer on the bottom (which orthodontist #4 decided I didn't need and took out) and I had an expander (the kind with the key you have to turn every so often) on my top jaw. I guess I have a small mouth because they also pulled some teeth to make room. Oh, they told me I don't have any wisdom teeth, but I think I have one in the back. They also told my brother he didn't have any but he just had 2 pulled like 10 years later. I'm convinced they were morons. I still have a bit of a cross bite, but I think that's because I never wore the rubberbands like I should have. There were too many and they all criss-crossed. I think I'm pretty lucky considering how messed up my teeth were before I got braces and I got out of there with just a slight cross bite and no other issues. As far as cavities, I have only had 2. I have one amalgam filling and one white one. I did some research on mercury before, so I'm going to try to avoid having any more amalgam put in my mouth.

I am glad to see that we are all concerned with our teeth. Personally I love the dentist. But then again, I get house calls(wife in dentistry)
